Now made the 100 PL appearances. Quite funny the club instagram post links to children’s size kits too. I know he’s not tall but…

He's been one of the real positives this season, his pace seems back, certainly his recovery pace in defence, he's stronger, tougher and seems real confident. And some nice goals and assists. A player that will scare the opposition. He should be a regular from here on
Not in the first 11, when others are fit. Love Tariq's attitude & he's regained some confidence. Which is great & as always is a threat going forward. His defensive anticipation, positioning & decision making are still those of a 3rd/4th choice full back. On either side.

Yeah, I'm starting to think, after a run of games in the side, that he's more than that

That's the trouble though, he's had so many injuries that he has never been consistently available for selection so has not really been able to have that run of games.

3rd or 4th choice? That's obviously not true. How many PL squads can you name me who contain, say 3 right backs all of whom are better than Lamptey?

The more sensible question to ask, is does Estupinan resume his left back role when he gets fit. I think the answer is probably yes, but I think rotation is likely, with Veltman having played a lot of games on the other side and Pervis presumably needing some easing back in. Tariq should feature heavily in the remaining months of the season whatever happens with Pervis.

The thing that I think has made a difference to Lamptey is having a run of fitness (touching quite a bit of wood). He seems to have more confidence in his body and he's lost the mindset of an injured player playing his way back to fitness which I think dragged him down

Veltman, Ferdi & maybe Hinsh picked ahead of him when fit.
So 3rd or 4th.

OK let’s add together the goals and assists this Premier season from Kadioglu, Hinshelwood, Veltman, Estupinan, Van Hecke, Dunk, Webster and Igor. From those eight we get two assists and two goals in total.

From Lamptey we have two assists and two goals all on his tod.

That's great.
We're talking about his defending

Maybe so, but Veltman is the only RB from those 3. Ferdi is a LB and Hinsh is a midfielder, as a result I expect him to be in competition with Veltman as the only other specialist RB (unless we sign one in the summer).

That said, Lamptey has been the best LB in the squad this season. Pervis has been inconsistent and hasn't supported Mitoma anywhere near as much as he can and Ferdi is probably the long term option but he's still returning from injury.

I'd say worst case, next season he's 2nd choice RB and 3rd choice LB but for this season he's easily my 1st choice LB

In that case we need a new RB who can defend brilliantly for 90 minutes, as cover for Velts.
