I’d hate us to hire anyone who didn’t have loads of room for development - very likely to be complacent, lacking in energy, disinterested in innovation and not collaborative. Same in pretty much any industry.

Presumably all Albion’s managers since Gus Poyet , bar perhaps Hughton, wouldn’t pass this test.
Tony should be looking at Warnock or Pulis perhaps

Football is a funny old game. Always felt this team needs a bit of time and patience, and perhaps setbacks still to come, but that was mightily impressive tonight.

I’m still out. Nothing has changed for me as I’ve always looked at this over the course of his entire time here.
Tonight was sensational. We looked fired up and he set us up perfectly.
Still a long way to go. I said the next five games looked vital in getting an idea of how this team under Fab would look. That doesn’t change beyond it now being three games. Last two results he’s exceeded my expectations massively- more than happy that is the case as ultimately I want long term success for the club.

We gotta give the guy a chance, there will be ups and downs but given his age and experience levels we need to be patient.
That was a great performance against a team who looked like they were going to blow us away at the start.

Tactically was spot on tonight. Used Minteh defensively on there wide player allowed Veltman to tuck in at times meaning the gaps between the CBs was a lot smaller. Took advantage of the high line Chelsea play and at times we over powered Chelsea. Deserves a lot of credit for this result.

I disagree. Nuts is being Fab In before Forest, Fab Out after, Fab back In after last weeks win. That’s nuts.
My reasoning is perfectly rational and as I said in the above post, based on what I’ve seen over the whole season. Not worth repeating it as it’s all been posted. I said at the very beginning of his time here that this season would likely be a bit of a writeoff. And that the real evidence of his impact would be seen from about Easter. I stand by that.
I don’t think he’s a world beater because we’ve turned over Chelsea twice, just as I didn’t think he went from the best young manager in the game to the worst pre and post Forest. I’m still to be convinced that he will have enough to do more than he currently is- ie oversee some great results but also some shockers. It isn’t unfair to say that’s the first league game we played for the entire 90.
Let’s see how it goes over the next few weeks. As I said, I would love us to consistently show the kind of levels we did tonight over the rest of the season, and as I’ve said over the last few weeks I care about that more than results right now.
Anyway that’s my lot on it tonight, it’s Valentines and love is the best.

I'm not sure it's that rational. FH doesn't have to be a world beater. He just needs to be good enough for a club aspiring to Europe. It's his first season, we're miles clear at the top of the injury table, playing 7 or 8 players under 23 every week. He deserves huge credit

Will be the first to admit I was wrong if he proves to be as good as most think he is. And delighted.

Tonight was really promising. We looked like a proper team for the first time all season at home, across 90 whole minutes. Criticism of him has been entirely fair, in my opinion, and will be fair again if he resorts to what he was doing up until Forest. But maybe he’s turned a corner - if so, I’d be more than happy to change my opinion. It’s now about showing this style, plan and tactical set up over a period of games to give us the best chance of progressing.

I mean you’re trying hard to be rational but when you really think about it, it’s an absolutely ridiculous position to be taking.

Fab has certainly made mistakes this season that he will absolutely need to learn from.
On tonight’s showing though, he is doing exactly that… we looked everything we weren’t against Forest and that is down to the way he set us up.
He has taken some flak a few times this season (rightly so) but tonight, credit where it’s due.

But what areas are you developing in at Premier League level as a manager? Your tactical ideas? Your coaching methods? Your ability to develop players? Your ability to deal with the media?
If you’re still a ‘manager with potential’ surely you should be refining that ability further down the pyramid?
