I find this unbelievable. Even for football fans, that is extraordinary. I think Maresca has done a brilliant job there. He was brave enough to basically sideline half of their ridiculously bloated squad, and only use the ones he needs, which was exactly what needed doing. To have that basket case of a club in 4th place with that owner and all the issues they have is a brilliant achievement in my opinion. Hopefully they will sack him and set him up for life financially, and bring in the next big name coach that will also fail. I'd happily have him at the Albion.
Almost universal criticism on their forum. Can only assume they have a similar number of noisy reactionaries as NSC

...and yes, someone started a 'Maresca out' thread on Saturday night

Further to this, I just had a quick look at their forum. It's easy to fall into the trap of having an opinion on another club's issues when you don't watch them week in, week out, like their own fans do. But I found this post quite interesting:

An interesting concept to make a club like Chelsea a "Turbo charge (sic) Brighton." For me this cannot work, simply because the wages they pay are way too high. Brighton's model works because of the salary structure, which means buying out our stars for large transfer fees makes sense. Once a player is on"big" 6 wages, the price of their contract surely goes too far down due to the higher wages. Secondly there is little incentive for the players themselves to move, as they are already at a "top" club. Finally Chelsea cannot afford to sell their best players, so any they do sell will be seen as cast offs rather than future stars. Instead what they end up with is a bloated roster of very highly paid passengers. Well deserved.

Why are Chelsea traditionally right wing...?
Dunno, but it's long-standing. I do remember back in 1982 I was working in Southall. I used to drink in a pub called the Featherstone Arms, which had a very multi-cultural clientele. There was a discussion in there once about who supported who and whether, especially in London, you were drawn to a club because of like-minded fans rather than because it was the one nearest one to you.

I remember a Sikh guy, who liked football but didn't follow any one team offered this analysis based on his own observations: "If you're Irish you support Arsenal. If you're Jewish you support Spurs. If you're black you support QPR. If you're a bit of a jack-the-lad you support West Ham. If you're dull and boring you support Fulham - and if you're a right-wing racist bastard you support Chelsea."

Now that was just one bloke in a pub not an in-depth Sociological study, and we all laughed - but I do think there was/is some truth in what he said.

I've just seen a post on there which reads

"We're just a team of bang average players and Cole Palmer, aren't we?"

FINALLY they get it!

And if you're an inbred who lives in a caravan you support Palace?

I work with a chelsea fan..he travels to most away games but avoids the Brighton ones because, in his words, it brings the idiots out. He is therefore avoiding this Friday too.

He says its the same when they play spurs for some reason.
I would say one word in response to your colleague... "poppycock". The same as for the Albion, getting away tickets is difficult and you need points from regular attendance. It's largely the same fans but they behave worse at certain away fixtures. At Brighton they know they can take liberties as we do not have a large hooligan element.

I think it should have read:

"We're just a team of bang average players and Moises Caicedo aren't we?"

He's worth every penny of £115m. Absolute class.
Watching most of the game, my impression was Palmer looked dangerous but was crowded out of opportunities, while Moises looked pretty solid for a one man mid-field for initiating attacks and defensive actions. But I don't recall his passing, precise as it was, leading to much....(excepting the 'assist' for Palmer's Goal). An obvious difference between the teams was Brighton frequently re-initiated attacks while keeping the possession, retreating back then restarting attacks, whereas Chelsea seemed almost all the time only interested in going forward. Maybe because the team or fans are impatient in more senses than one.

I think they'll be a lot more this Friday coming and im sure their arrogance stance will lead to confrontations pre and post-match. I find a lot of our fans hate them almost as much as Palace for the aforementioned attitude they hold.

I don’t know where they all live but it’s a song that get used at any gathering where there are right wingers
I am well aware of the song thanks: I just find it a bit pathetic that people who have never been within a hundred miles of Northern Ireland feel the need to sing songs that relate to that particular part of the world. Especially at football matches. Even more so when they insert the words "no surrender" into the (crappy) national anthem.
