Personally no issues with women's sports and in fact IMHO genuinely think that in some events/sports women are naturally better than men, but in premier sports Cricket 🏏 Football, Rugby 🏉 much prefer the men's game.

Literally all she did was read out the club's stated targets, with the women's team being successful being one of them. Our clubs targets would be exactly the same.

Yet upon hearing that, he felt COMPELLED to politely inform the female in the studio why no one cares....despite her saying she did.

People who don’t like women’s football are very much the vegans of the football supporter world, they’ll find a way of telling everyone soon enough

Or he could have given the following jovial response in his Scottish accent, "Aye, it would be fantastic if the women's team won the league, just to show the men how it's done".

Everyone in the studio would have laughed, and then they could just move on. No fuss, and not coming across as a complete bell-end, regardless of whether he was right or not.

When people think of Man U they think of the men’s first team, not the women, U21s, U18s, academy, Foundation, or any other teams they operate.
That's irrelevant in this context though. Manchester United have a blueprint, whether laughable or not, that incorporates all sorts of development with a view to success. This includes the men and women's team. The whole club.

I don't follow women's football, but it is very important as it gives girls and women the opportunities to develop. So to say it doesn't matter is indeed the words of a dinosaur, a very discriminatory one too. Clubs are embracing it, like Albion. No-one here seems to be complaining that money is being invested in this and they shouldn't- because to say that money shouldn't be invested is to say women don't matter.

I'm sick and tired of blokes making comments about women's football thinking they are either funny or, even worse, have a point. If it's not for them then they should just shut up or share the joy that girls and women have had in recent times getting access to a sport that was closed off to them for many years.

Aherne talks a load of bollocks also, she came out with a classic a few weeks back saying she only took her kids to women’s games as she doesn’t feel safe at men’s games. She supports the most touristy club in the PL what is she so scared of? It’s not the 70’s any more love.

I think he's right. The harsh reality is despite women's football clearly making some progress it is still a very small fraction of the interest that the mens game generates and therefore in the context of what they were discussing, i.e. Man Utd, all any (or 99.99%) Utd fans across the world care about is what they're going to do with the mens team. They couldn't care less about the women's team by comparison. Stating a reality does not make him a dinosaur and it's pretty disrespectful and ageist to say that to him.

Yes but that wouldn’t have got everyone calling in to argue one way or the other which is what Talksport want.

My mate used to work with Tommy Boyd on a Talksport show and Tommy would deliberately take a controversial position on a subject because it generated people phoning in, even if he ultimately didn’t believe what he was saying.

Although I firmly believe that Alan Brazil meant every word of what he said about women’s football.
