Sorry no, full disclosure as Billy was a neighbour of mine, on the Tuesday morning, he went on the Friday, I spoke to his father outside my house, he categorically stated Billy
1) Hadn’t asked for a transfer
2) Didn’t want to leave Brighton

Like Ensciso and the others, Fab just didn’t fancy him. 🤷‍♂️

Some people here have Albion Lancing connections. Gilmour wanted to join Napoli the moment they moved fir him, his heart was set on it.

BG's father did the right thing in fibbing to you.

This. I thought it was fairly common knowledge that Hurzeler doesn't like small midfielders and was quite quick to inform Billy that he wasn't in his plans.

Napoli represented the best option for Billy based on the understanding he didn't have a future at Brighton.

Except I don’t think he was old love, so on this matter we will have to agree to differ.

To quote Gladys Knight, without her Pips, “Lets just kiss and say goodbye“ 😂

RDZ, Potter and Conte didn't fancy him for long periods too
In fairness to the wee lad, he was only at the Albion for Potter's last game... (in which he made a brief substitute appearance).

And this comment does forget the whole stalking court case in RDZ's first season which was the real reason he went a long period without being involved in games. Once it was resolved, he started in 5 of the last 8 games of the season as we rolled to European qualification.

Personally, I think his leaving put a lot of pressure on Wieffer and O'Riley to immediately come in and perform and frankly, they haven't been up to the standard expected so far. He may not have had a long-term future under the current manager but it still seems wild that he was offloaded so quickly when the team was obviously in transition and had already lost Gross.

If a club comes in for a player, it might be in the player’s interest to play it coy, due to loyalty payments.

That's a very fair point, I had totally forgotten that

Oh dear.
Could it be someone has been whooshed?
I do hope it's me.
Or my time on NSC will have been wasted.
I was complimenting you on the detail.

The use of the NSC classic 'of' instead of 'have' was the bit I found funny.

I'm not sure that counts as you being whooshed, but I certainly wasn't :)

TFFT. I always had you down as one of the cognoscenti, and a little piece of me would have died had I been disabused of this preconception.

Sorry, I meant: would of died.

Gilmour was signed by Napoli to keep McTominay company. They really wanted McTominay, and he wanted a Scottish-friend. So they picked up Gilmour, decent player and solid professional who wasn't too expensive and wouldn't rock the boat.

See also a Mr. E. Dier transferring to Bayern to keep a Mr. H. Kane happy. The difference being that Bayern have, bizarrely, used Dier more often than anyone would reasonably have expected.

Tremendous narrative.
I smell made-up bullshit.
However beauty is truth.
So I'm saying 'true'.

Huge loss thank to FH saying he doesn't want him..

How many mistakes does this loony manager need to get sacked!

Well that’s very interesting intel. Surprising. I suppose it could be Gilmour Snr being diplomatic.
It was a strange call. And that isn’t hindsight. That really doesn’t add any weight to the pro Fabs argument and suggests that Enciso and Ferguson have left similarly.

See also a certain Ricky Villa purchased by Spurs to keep Ozzie Ardiles company - South Americans really rare over here back then. And Baz and Batti - but neither of them were any good!

I also know someone v close to Billy. If there had been a commitment towards him from the manager, it would have been a much more difficult decision.
As it was, there wasn’t….
