Trump saying on "Truth" Social:

"Will there be some pain? Yes, maybe, and maybe not! It will all be worth the price that must be paid,"

Won't be him feeling the pain though, will it? It'll be the poor saps who voted for him.

I'm reluctant to say they deserve it, but...y'know.

Fully deserve it. Politics aside, the guy is a vile human being. Anyone who hangs off his every word is an absolute moron

Be interesting to see how the major stock markets react tomorrow. Really, this should be no surprise and all priced in by now seeing as he’s been saying he’ll impose the tariffs since election. But I genuinely believ that the market has been thinking that even he wouldn’t actually follow through with this promise and do something so f***ing stupid. Expecting a sea of red tomorrow.

I expect Sunak will cash in by hedging his bets.
Again.

The old saying is along the lines of.. " when someone tells you who they are, believe them " Well, he said he would be a Dictator on day one, he said if you vote for me " You don't have to worry about voting again " . He has confirmed yet again he is unhinged and just a fetid ball of anger, hate, retribution and spite. Thank God he can't live forever and one day we will be free of him.

Let's hope those who voted for him learn a valuable lesson.

Trump is now 78, so at least there is a bit of comfort that he has 4 more years maximum as President. Am I ( hopefully) right in thinking that Elon Musk cannot never be president as he is not a native American?

Nope, they deserve it. They knew what he was, and they voted for him anyway.

Let them stew in it. Let them suffer for it.

I’m not sure rules such as 4 year terms and appointment of non USA nationals are really ones to hang your hat on at this point. Musk has basically been given free-reign of government offices as it is, he doesn’t need to be the main man if they have a puppet like Trump, or Vance who is probably next.

Regarding all that Canadian booing:
  1. Trump will be surprised at the booing
  2. He will be upset by the booing
  3. It will make him change his mind and reverse his actions
Or maybe none of the above - what do you think? He really doesn't care!

He’s an egotistical, narcissistic prick, so I actually think people booing him and the USA will make him angry because it attacks his vanity, that people don’t like what he represents or just bow down to him. He’ll use it as more fuel for tariffs etc

That said those people aren’t booing for Grunp. They are booing to show their disgust and anger at the US going down this road and to express their own frustrations. It doesn’t matter what Trump thinks about it at all.

I split my time and my life between England and Canada, as my other half is Canadian. I can tell you, based solely anecdotally on what she and her family and friends feel, is nothing short of apoplectic rage.

Many Canadians are extremely angry at the direction of travel in their proud nation domestically, and see this as nothing short of betrayal by the United States and a “final straw”.

There are big grassroots movements growing by the hour to “Buy Canadian” which Trudeau quickly realised and is harnessing for political capital, and a sense of solidarity is growing amongst Canadians - at least those I know.

Tonight’s scenes at the hockey will be repeated.

They’re very, very angry and want no part of being America’s 51st state.

Am I understanding Trump correctly, in that he is going to increase EU tarrifs because they don't buy American cars and other bits and bobs?!

Plus how will Trump increase EU/UK tarrifs outside of an 'emergency' scenario?
