Two people with absolutely zero experience of management, for half a season, isn’t going to happen.

I watch all our games. JP isn’t as natural as he is at No 10, but he still creates more than Evan has ever.
Evan (in form) is a genuine number nine. Evan out of form is largely a passenger in terms of supporting play, and we’re reliant on him getting one or more clean shots away. Some time in a different environment will do him good.
I still trust him with a clear path to goal, but we’ve been trying to support him throughout his recent struggles, and a change of scenery and approach could be good for all concerned.
This happens to young players. They have a dip in form and don’t know how to recover it. The good news is that once they recover their form once, they can do it faster if and when it happens again, but the lower leagues are full of promising prospects who never found their way back. We’re giving Evan every opportunity to find his way, let’s hope he makes it. I wish him the best.
I don’t believe we will (or need to) bring anyone else in for this half-season. There’s goals in our squad as is.

I know we are famous for it but the last 2 and a half windows (inc this one) have been poor
Our season died during last winters window. Whether de zerbi was right or wrong, we didn't strengthen the squad.
Last summer we signed a lot of players and a lot of potentials (young wingers) but centre back, full back and not replacing lalllana and gross in midfield (both as midfielders as well as older heads) were big gaps and I'm not after timing here because I and many others said it. Yes we signed Kadioglu and O Riley- one of which has been unlucky in getting injured and the other also apparently isn't fit enough at the moment.
This winter we signed 2 players- one who apparently isn't fit to play 90mins and the other from the championship. In that time we have loaned to buy a full back, loaned a forward amd likely to loan another forward.
Where we are now is as a result of those windows. Plus a number of (younger) players seemingly feeling they need to move on or being moved on
I'm pretty sure that Tony Bloom didn't sign off a quarter of a billion on players to get dicked 7 nil by a team owned by someone accused of major indiscretions in Greece. He will be looking at the recruitment team as well as the manager I expect

I think its a mistake to loan him. Welbeck is always one tackle away from a season ending injury.

Putting aside the fact that we have other players who can play or at least fill in as a nine (and score goals doing so), Evan is only “our best young striker” because of his past form and future potential - as opposed to his current form - and our lack of comparably talented young strikers, PL proven ones anyway (sorry Duffus). So it’s not a distinction that means all that much

Whatever his ambition the only way he realises it is by playing and scoring.
I thought Georginio played No.9 very well against Norwich. Better than any performance Fergie has put in for the last year or so.

If he's still here, why not give Evan a full 90 minutes run out against Chelsea in the Cup game? It might just do him - and us - a world of good

I think if I had been on the wrong side of the biggest defeat in a lifetime / career, and one where I had scored the crucial first goal in my own net, I too would look and sound uncomfortable!

This one is going to come back and bite us. Can’t see Danny playing every game between now and end of season. West Ham will finish above us now.

Unless this means we’re getting the Greek guy in this window then this is an unbelievably stupid decision to let him leave on loan.

The Sky Sports article detailing this also has West Ham signing two other strikers, one for £35m. So Fergie could go from our bench to theirs.

Biggest concern for me is Evan starts enjoying his football again, in an environment where he feels valued and a manager that trusts in him.
Why would he then want to return and give his all next season under the same regime here.
I’m sure people will say he has a contract with us until 2029 blah blah blah…. But player power is a massive thing now.
