The point about Mitoma being double-teamed is that it means we have a man over somewhere else on the pitch, and the way he can hug the touchline means it maximises the space in which they can operate.

Ask Rutter or Joao Pedro whether they think Mitoma should leave.

Indeed, I think this is one of the reasons Ferguson's face doesn't fit, as his movement and anticipation outside the area does not exploit the opportunities that exist, while his hold up and lay-off play is unspectacular*

* But the boy can finish.

Of all our players, Mitoma is one I could see who possibly might not be swayed by wheelbarrows full of cash.

I've read previously that he would like to play in the Champions League. He'll be 28 when next season kicks off, so time is starting to move against him slightly now. He will also have two years left on his contract at the end of this season.

So, it feels like this summer might be the sweet spot for him moving to a "big club", if that's what he wants to do, and the Albion would receive a decent enough fee. Nowhere near £90m though - more likely £40-50m I would think.

Mitoma strikes me as a player who will pass 35 before even contemplating retiring. He just seems like the type. He could have a number of Champions League seasons after filling his boots in the desert.

But 90M is serious money. Unlikely to get that again. I want to see the club push a European place, but the pessimist inside me says that’s unlikely. In that scenario 90M now with Adringa / March starting is favourable as it won’t change us competing for the upper end of mid table.

I don't think it does.

There's Saudi silly money and then everyone else who has to worry about pesky PSR and not rolling in oil money.

I think the Saudis will pay up to double the market value to get a deal done.

8:59 tonight (as it's post midnight) is when the window closes (as Saudi are GMT+3).

Time is tight, certainly, but it sounds like they have a delegation in the UK to push deals through.

it's a pointless question really, it all depends on if the player wants to leave. If the other club will pay him significantly higher wages, he's off. Whatever transfer fee you can agree is neither here nor there.

He's obviously a very good player and an asset to us, but 90 mil is a lot of money and feel that's the maximum he will ever be worth. I would take the money if it meant Bloom investing all of the 90 mil back in to the squad where we are short.

Isn't that effectively what they tried (and ultimately failed) with Mo Salad? Silly money first and then REALLY silly money. Looks like they might get their man in the summer, though...

With deep regret, I’d take £90m - maybe anything north of £60m, given his age. Doubt we’re consistent enough to achieve much this season even with him on board. That money would be a huge boost to strengthen in the summer.

Weirdly, although he could go for the unimaginable payday, maybe at his age he’d far prefer to target meaningful trophies in Europe, with us or someone else. Duran going to Saudi actually makes more sense even though it appears ridiculously unambitious. Unlike Mitoma, he can give it a couple of years and still be young enough to focus on footballing achievements later.
