Huge win for Worthing tonight, top of the table with a game in hand on Dorking, Maidstone and Eastbourne.
Dorking, Maidstone and Eastbourne sounds more like an It's a Knockout heat from 1974 than a collection of aspiring football clubs. The only parallel being that it was three points for a win.

Mind you, finishing top got you into Europe.

Thought I'd give Worthing a gander last night, very entertaining top of the table clash. Red card helped, but Worthing did superbly breaking down a resolute Boreham Wood.

Big crowd down at Woodside Road today for the FA Trophy clash with National League side Rochdale

Brought to mind the many times I've seen Rochdale play the Albion, and made me think of the differing trajectories of the Albion, Rochdale and indeed Worthing

Worthing struggled in the first half despite playing some good football and struggled to make chances against their superior opposition. Dale took a 2 goal into the break having converted their first two chances. Mo Faal should have scored late on in the first half which was Worthing's best chance up to that point

It was much the same really until Partington scored from a free kick FROM HIS OWN HALF after 70 something minutes. An absolutely outrageous effort. The rebels then came close to equalizing late on (hitting the bar) but fell just short

Very much held their own

Shame that you couldn't have beer in the stands but perhaps a sign of things to come if they achieve promotion

Rape of Hastings, Sussex
After watching the Albion game I was glutton for punishment and went to the Pilot Field to watch Hastings United lose 1-0 to Lewes in the Sussex Derby. Can't see Hastings staying up. 1335 crowd and a good number of Rooks in attendance.

Burgess Hill ground out another win. Hard fought 1-0 over Erith Town today.

Hill looking solid in third place and well set for the play offs. Considerable improvement over the last two seasons. Really enjoying watching the team this season.

Good game, discounted bar prices today and a cracking burger. Took my mind off the pish I saw on telly beforehand.

Me too. I didn’t think Hastings were terrible. Had some good chances and went close with that free kick second half that needed a good save. Just can’t see them winning a game though at the moment. Like you I can’t see them staying up.

Situation for our clubs going into February:

National League South:
Both Worthing and Eastbourne Borough are part of an incredible 6 way title race. Worthing briefly went top on Tuesday but lost that spot as they had a cup game yesterday. It's very tight and you'd think both clubs should at the least qualify for the play offs

Isthmian Premier
Horsham and Chichester City are in 5th and 6th spot so both are in the play off hunt. Very impressive from both clubs but in particular Chichester who only came up last season. Lewes and Whitehawk are 12th and 16th respectively with the latter successfully pulling away from the relegation zone. Further down and it's not good news. Bognor Regis Town are rock bottom and are joined in the drop zone by Hastings United.

Isthmian South East
Burgess Hill Town are having the time of their lives and are currently 3rd. You'd think they're nailed on for a play off spot. Three Bridges are up to 9th and Eastbourne Town, Broadbridge Heath and East Grinstead Town join them in mid table in the 13th, 14th and 15th places. Steyning Town are bottom and are joined in the relegation zone by Littlehampton Town, with Lancing sitting just above the relegation trap door.

SCFL Premier
Hassocks continue to dominate and now have an 11 point gap at the top. Roffey are the surprise package and are leading the chasing pack. Haywards Heath are still within touch of second place despite their poor form and Crowborough Athletic are just behind them. At the bottom Little Common and Saltdean United are still having a tough time and continue to be the bottom two.

SCFL Division 1
Seaford Town and Forest Row are still trading blows at the top and the title race could go down to the wire. They are currently separated by goal difference but second place Forest Row have a game in hand. After them the best placed Sussex sides are Infinity in 5th and Worthing United in 6th. At the bottom Montpelier Villa and Copthorne are the lowest ranked Sussex sides in 19th and 18th.

SCFL Division 2
Rustington are still top with an incredible 50 points from 18 games. Jarvis Brook are 9 points behind them with two games in hand. At the bottom Bosham, Brighton Electricity and Upper Beeding all continue to struggle. Bosham in bottom place have just 7 points thus far.
