25% trade tariff imposed on Colombia for failing to take back illegals. 50% in a week if they don't take them back.

Classic 😀
Several members of his inner circle might be upset if certain imports from Colombia dry up

On a completely unrelated note, Elon is the richest person in the world.

So, what are the Trump voters going to think now? He said he was going to bring down the price of their eggs - first thing he does is put up the price of their coffee.
I wonder where people's lines in the sand are. It feels like many people will not turn away from him no matter what he does.

The Colombian president has already folded !!
Well, yes and no. What they they objected to was the use of US military planes not to the deportations - and the deportees will now be coming on Columbian planes so far as I can tell. So, is actually Trump who has folded? But of course, he'll not sell it that way!

Colombia’s leftist president, Gustavo Petro, also hit back at Mr. Trump. In one social media post, he announced retaliatory tariffs of 25 percent on U.S. imports to Colombia and in another, longer post he said those tariffs would hit 50 percent.

The immediate snag with the deportation flights appeared to be that U.S. military planes were transporting the undocumented migrants, a U.S. military official said on Sunday.

President Petro’s remarks came in response to a post about the treatment of Brazilian deportees. Brazil’s foreign ministry complained of “degrading treatment” of its citizens after 88 migrants arrived in the country handcuffed on Friday and some complained of mistreatment after not being given water or allowed to use the bathroom during the flight.

The U.S. tariffs could deal a significant blow to Colombia’s economy. The United States is Colombia’s largest trading partner, with top Colombian exports to the American market including crude oil, coffee and cut flowers.

The U.S. and Colombia pulled back from the brink of a trade war on Sunday after the White House said the South American nation had agreed to accept military aircraft carrying deported migrants.

U.S. President Donald Trump had threatened tariffs and sanctions on Colombia to punish it for earlier refusing to accept military flights carrying deportees as part of his sweeping immigration crackdown.

But in a statement late on Sunday, the White House said Colombia had agreed to accept the migrants after all and Washington would not impose its threatened penalties.

In a statement late on Sunday, Colombian Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo said: "We have overcome the impasse with the U.S. government".
"The government of Colombia... has the presidential plane ready to facilitate the return of Colombians who were going to arrive in the country this morning on deportation flights."

Just reading the last dozen posts, this seems to have been a successful negotiation for America and Colombia.

And more importantly for America, the news/publicity of people being returned to their country is a warning shot for others.

Love him or hate him, it looks like DT has done something (or is claiming to have done something) the American public is asking for.

they are convicted criminals subject to deportation orders.
US criminals are transported in a similar fashion domestically.

In real news Colombia’s President has ordered an increase in tariffs on U.S. imports in retaliation for President Trump’s sanctions against Colombia
Well that won't be enforced lol. As well as Colombia offering the presidents plane, which was a good attempt at saving face.

Are they convicted criminals or illegal migrants?
No proof either way at the moment but is there really much difference? As a regular English man in the US if I so much as overstayed my visa I wouldn't exactly be expecting the red carpet treatment on the way back and probably some stiff interrogation.

The lines between convicted criminals, illegal immigrants, world's richest men and presidents have been blurred of late.

Having pursued cordial relations with Trump, it seems that Starmer has completely wrong-footed the clueless Badenough.
Meanwhile Farage seems to have disappeared completely.
Politics is a funny old game.
