Arguably a penalty but god I hate VAR getting involved. How long did it take?

There’s no way it’s a foul. Veltman was diving to the ground looking for a foul like he regularly does
Very much this sadly. Had he concentrated more on getting the ball rather than looking for the foul he would have not needed to handle the ball.

Our fans and manager claiming it was a foul are seriously deluded.

Whatching it live I said he'd been trying to Veltman a free kick, but Velman'd himself instead. Watching the replay, at home, I didn't change my mind.

However, it's Joel so it was NEVER a penalty as he NEVER fouls. EVER.

At what point do I suggest ‘we’ can do anything? ‘We’ can’t, but the ref should be able to control the game and he today he didn’t.
Fair enough. You mentioned us being shithoused. Not a lot we can do about it except get in the refs ear which Dunky and others did. But I've yet to see any ref take any action against teams like these (also see: AV, Fulham, Arsenal, Wolves)

Foul first, handball second. Should be simple for VAR to clarify..... Oh.

Exactly, Beto's foul on Veltman was no different than Baleba's on Zirkzee for the penalty at Man U last week.

I don't think VAR actually considered the foul at all, just the question of whether it was a penalty or a corner. Chalking off the penalty would have meant the original decision to give a corner was also wrong... but that wasn't the question... so...

Basically, I'm outraged, and I've not been outraged since the infamous Phil Prosser match.

It’s handball, but before it there’s a hand on Joel’s shoulder that tries to pull him back. It’s a foul but a very soft one. The issue is some refs give them and some don’t, and some refs give them differently depending on where it was on the pitch. No consistency.

I am, however, consistent in my opinion that VAR shouldn’t re referee the game and should get in the bin.

If the (as some have alluded soft) foul, which to be fair I haven't seen played back, isn't committed, Joel isn't deliberately handling the ball.

Having said that, he has a huge amount of credit in the bank for me to forgive this error.

The poll just goes to show it wasn’t clear and obvious and the fact var got involved is a disgrace and not in line with their usage this season. We were on the wrong end of one today and it made them cheat even more.

The ref initially gave a corner - which was wrong - it was either a foul or a penalty , and it wasn't a foul.

Same old Veltman I’m afraid, ref didn’t fall for his normal theatrics and absolute stupidity to quite clearly handle the ball for the penalty.

A right back must surely be an absolute priority either this window or in the summer.
