Sorry but with the squad we have we should be. The depth in midfield and attacking positions is the best we have ever had.

I preferred that 2022/23 squad. Aside from world class Mac and Caicedo, the following players were in the wonderful form of their lives:
Gross
Steele
March
Estupinan (incredible that season)
Dunk
Colwill
Mitoma
Ferguson

We can’t have it both ways. We’re an exciting bunch of young talents, much to learn and trust the process, we’ll reap the rewards in later seasons. And we’re the greatest Albion unit in our history. PL tables are the acid test.

Absolutely clueless coaching today but we were almost perfect at Man U. He’s just got to be given time to find his feet.

Shame that’s massively at odds with our European ambitions.
Yes, agreed. Having invested heavily in the squad, Bloom has also invested in the manager.

Emotional knee-jerk online reactions after a home defeat and poor performance won't change the fact that he'll be given time to learn on the job.

We'll likely be paying the bill for that with our European hopes this season in the hope that it'll pay dividends next.

Nothing guaranteed of course, but that's the big picture game Bloom plays. And I wouldn't bet against him.

Since we have been promoted to the Premier League this is the most unconvinced I have been by a manager we have had.

End of the second season under Hughton I wobbled but he had more than enough credit in the bank, I always believed in what Potter was trying to do and never wanted him out and same with RDZ, yes things got sour at the end of last season but I was convinced a good transfer window and a fit squad and we would be great again. If FH was sacked tomorrow I literally wouldn’t care and would probably be excited we could get someone with a clearer plan.

I always felt like Potter had an idea about what he wanted to achieve in different scenarios in a game. I don’t have that feel with this guy.

I’ve been called out for calling him tactically inept before, but I really do think he is.

He must be doing something totally different, and incredible, away from home to be getting the praise he is from some quarters.
He talks about creating partnerships on the pitch, Mitoma and Minteh work so well together and they hardly start together it’s plain odd.
Stop f***ing about with the right hand side Minteh is the best option he defended so well at Man Utd almost did a wing backs job.
Why oh why was he benched the players will quickly become pissed off with Hurz if they aren’t already.

he got a lot wrong today, after getting a lot right on the previous two games. it happens. what’s most concerning isn’t anything fab-specific, but rather why the home form has taken an absolute nosedive in the last 18 months. the entire ground repeatedly doing its best morgue impression might have something to do with it.
If the players are so pathetic that the muted atmosphere upsets them, it might explain the absolute nosedive.
More likely, weaker teams are more wary of us these days and defend deep. We don’t quite have the quality to break them down like the best teams can. and sometimes (like today) those weaker teams get lucky.

PS
Your first point about the manager is spot on

De Zerbi would have this squad top five.
If we could have a manager with De Zerbi's tactical approach and Chris Hughton's statesmanlike demeanor and personal management skills, I'd be IN

I'm the opposite, I'm pretty convinced there is an excellent manager in there, albeit at an early stage of his career with inevitable teething problems.. I'd wager that he will end up having a more successful career than any of our three previous managers.

Will take a while for the bet to come through though!

We’re a 10th/11th squad.

Teams with our home record and lacking the ability to break down all sorts of opposition tactics, don’t make Europe.

We tasted it once with a world class centre midfield. We’re miles away from the quality of that incredible team. We’re punching at the right level just now.
Sorry but Fabian isn't get the best from this squad, with the players that have returned I expect to see us winning more games. He is inconsistent and it feels like he is spinning the wheel of fortune, each week. I'm not saying get rid I'm saying show us your ability, before the end of the season. Moyes loved playing against him today as he knew he would be the master.

Got his tactics and selection very badly wrong

Every Brighton manager falls for Dycheball these days, so not pushing for him to be Out on that basis, but blotted his copybook for sure

Minteh should of started! No wonder players are unhappy!

It's like fh wanted us to lose?

Nailed on to be sacked (quite rightly) at the end of the season because Tony won't f*** about. You don't spend the money he has and accept finishing 9th.
You should get a bet on. Given Bloom’s history of not being a trigger-happy chairman, I think you could get fantastic odds of FH being sacked before next season starts.

We do indeed have the quality unfortunately it was on the bench first half.

Definitely feels like a rerun of the Potter years.

It's tricky because he's not really doing badly enough to warrant the sack but we know from recent experience that a change of coach can make a huge positive difference.
Change of coach from Potter to De Zerbi didn’t make much of a difference. We were flying at the end of Potter’s tenure. That’s why Chelsea were happy to give us 20m for him.

We need to give FH time. He’s had a far better start than Potter.
