You say that, but there seems little rhyme or reason to what they stock.

I was in sports direct football section in Derby a couple of weeks ago, its big multi level store in main shopping centre, buying some underlayers for son, and I was bit confused by this very issue.

Yeah they had big six shirts, but they also had Glasgow Rangers and weirdly Hearts too, plus in their foreign shirts a lot of the European big clubs plus a whole rack of different sized Shakthar Donetsk shirts??

Not a single Derby County shirt.

How many people in Derby are going to want a Hearts or Shakthar shirt over a Derby one?
They'll just have a contract with them, they probably aren't making much on that margin in all honesty. JD have St Pauli shirts etc.

Jesus, it's an effing football shirt. I see hardly any noticeable difference between various makes. People moaning about sweatshops in the far east working for Nike but Adidas also outsource manufacturing to the far east, notably China and does anyone think their working conditions are any better.

As for size, I'm a 3xl and am perfectly happy with the fit. Anyone with that size doesn't want skin tight fittings!!!!

As for design, it's blue and white stripes and has correctly been that way since they changed it to the all blue tops from our first sojourn in to the top flight.

Weird, people getting their fashion knickers in a twist over a football shirt!

Not really.
People spend a lot of money on the kit and training gear for themselves and their family. The yellow away kit cost me over a £100 for my son. Most of the training and clothing is bland and the kits seem to get worse quality. I guess it could be worse it could be Castore.

So, this is interesting.

Of the four Premier League clubs for whom Nike provide kits (us, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs), only one of them isn't listed on their site as a team they supply kits to. Can you guess which?

To give Barbs the benefit of the doubt, the NEW deal might, possibly, maybe put us on Nike's priority list.

I mean international sales (Japan) have gone through the roof since the last deal was signed. That may make a difference.

Pretty sure Barber has said before it's the club's decision not to allow retailers to sell our shirts so we get more of the pie.

We get such a small amount for each shirt sale anyway, why would we want to share that with another retailer, and as someone else said keeping shirt sales in house increases the chances of anyone buying a shirt purchasing some other stuff too where we have a better percentage mark up.

What I find really weird is that these stores value their shelf space, therefore they will constantly review what they stock and in what quantity. Therefore I find it somewhat depressing that they clearly think it is 'worth' stocking a Leeds shirt in their Brighton store. So they must sell, which is a sad state of affairs.

I'd love to know the club's view on this. I don't buy the idea it is to generate more footfall at the Amex store, who would bother to go there apart from on a matchday when you can order online?
With Brighton being a popular destination for stag do’s, I’d imagine they are there as last-minute costumes to dress the hapless groom in.

Would much rather we went with a smaller brand and be their biggest club so they lavish attention on us. Rather than be with Nike and just get their stock template stuff and the designs their other bigger clubs didn't want.

This, the only justification for this must be financial, Nike fail on every other criteria. A massively retrograde step - probably agreed within the club by a senior figure within the club with a penchant for wearing Pringle sweaters and slacks and with little to no personal style or sartorial taste!!
I don't think they fail on many criteria that matters with regards to performance. I remember when we first got Nike we were fortunate to attend the annual awards dinner. I asked a couple of players what they thought of Errea going and Nike coming in, they were 100% enthusiastic citing that the (Nike) gear and equipment was far better, and they were really pleased. In particular the players were excited about the boots (Errea don't do boots) which they would have specially fitted for them by Nike. Most players get a sponsorship deal with a boot manufacturer so this really went down well with them.

I think the last 3 home kits have been decent designs, with a degree of bespokeness about them, the aways/thirds have been so-so. I'm not a fan of Nike as a brand (their logo looks shit and their operations are questionable) , but I'm not sure we would have got much better from one of the other manufacturers, although I'd love to see the three stripes back on our kit.

Going against the grain here - I don't mind Nike. I think the kits have been fine - some of them pretty good.

Also, the kids love Nike because it's seen as cool.

Just far enough away from LDC

I had hoped for a retro cup final design or 85/86 shirts in blue and red with the 3 stripes. But if not, let's hope a man in Thailand can supply.

Fulham and Man Utd are Addidas and have the exact same kit except colour difference. No netter than Nike.
Eh?
