With 3+ years notice, I do hope at least they can so something cool for our 2028/2029 home kit?

That will be 50 years since those magic days in 78/79 when we first got promoted to the big league.

Hopefully something inspired by the Bukta 78/79 kit rather than just another vanilla identikit.

I have to admit, I don't get the ire about Nike. I still play football and run etc, so buy a shirt occasionally for those purposes and I've never had a single issue with the quality of the shirts themselves. We can argue about the aesthetics until the sun goes down, but the quality of the shirts has always been fine for me.

Ideally, I prefer more blue than white on the shirts but given that all of our shirts are variations on a similar theme, there haven't been any that are total eyesores in my opinion.

Oh well. More business for DHGate then. When we switch to Adidas I'll buy the proper ones.

But imagine the ballache for JD Sports - or whoever else - to undertake everything involved in kit procurement and selling for just one of its stores (or a few, at most). And then imagine it doing the same for, say, Bournemouth, Ipswich, Southampton or any other 'non-Big Six' PL club that has one of its stores in/near its town.

I'm no retail guru, but I'm guessing the ROI and profit margins given what is required would be marginal, at best.

As for the kit manufacturer announcement, I'm struggling to contain my indifference.

What I find really weird is that these stores value their shelf space, therefore they will constantly review what they stock and in what quantity. Therefore I find it somewhat depressing that they clearly think it is 'worth' stocking a Leeds shirt in their Brighton store. So they must sell, which is a sad state of affairs.

I'd love to know the club's view on this. I don't buy the idea it is to generate more footfall at the Amex store, who would bother to go there apart from on a matchday when you can order online?

I agree. Although that doesn't explain the non-big 6 that they do stock. Crawley SD stock f***ing Palace shirts.

You say that, but there seems little rhyme or reason to what they stock.

I was in sports direct football section in Derby a couple of weeks ago, its big multi level store in main shopping centre, buying some underlayers for son, and I was bit confused by this very issue.

Yeah they had big six shirts, but they also had Glasgow Rangers and weirdly Hearts too, plus in their foreign shirts a lot of the European big clubs plus a whole rack of different sized Shakthar Donetsk shirts??

Not a single Derby County shirt.

How many people in Derby are going to want a Hearts or Shakthar shirt over a Derby one?
