Well done Harry.

Question. Now that they have admitted phone tapping and illegality about Harry, does this open the path for a slew of other claimants they had previously denied hacking
For the first time the Sun has admitted to engaging in unlawful activity, they lied to the public for years. Time for the government to implement press accountability policies, an apology is one thing but we need to ensure this doesn't happen again.

A reminder why I never buy Murdoch news publications, without News Corp Trump would have never happened

The Government is taking no further action against the British press

A quote from a Number 10 spokesperson.

"Newspapers play a vital role in a functioning democracy. Clearly, they must operate within the bounds of the law & certain codes... as set out in the manifesto... [we are] not going ahead with a new inquiry"

So, no Leveson 2.

A shame, it would have been an ideal time to reign in the nefarious practices of the forth estate..

A cowardly move from Starmer.

Af file has been passed to the Met, from Prince Harry’s lawyers to consider charges of perjury from the previous trial.

Harry has his money. The newspapers admitted to serious intrusion. That's it. It was a civil case. Respectfully why do you think it should be a government inquiry?

Harry has his money and his apology. There is a reason why the The Sun didn't want this to go to court. So, why would that be ?

There is a reason why there isn't a Leveson 2 as well.

For some strange reason, folk still believe that it is the government who run this country and that through the ballot box they are accountable. It is the press who run this country, set the agenda and steer the conversation. And they are unaccountable. And despite all the uncovering in the modern age, sins far worse than any a government official has ever committed, they remain unaccountable.

An employee cannot sack their boss. Thus the government cannot attempt to sack the media. They will lose under the guise of the need for an open free press who hold everyone to account for their actions. Except themselves.

So your beef is with the press not the process of law or the difference between civil and criminal.. Do you think that the press overall should be investigated, all of it, across the internet and in print? How far would you like the investigation and 'control' to go? Just wondering.

What price is privacy? Look at the Hillsborough tragedy and the press lies.

It’d be nice to have people now join the dots as to why the tabloids stir up so much hatred against Harry and Meghan given this, but I somehow doubt the public are capable of doing that

The gaslight and double standards around Harry and Meghan and how Meghan was presented v Kate should be taught in every school for years to come to show how the media operate.

I heard so many people hating on Meghan with no real understanding of why. People certainly struggled to put any kind of coherent case for hating her together. It all just read as 'gaslit by the Media'.

Of course that wasn't the only issue that the media gaslit the people over.

The increasingly hysterical anti-labour voices would accuse them of....
"Waging war on the British Press who revealed the cover ups about grooming and Islamic terrorism...
Under Kier Starmer's watch as DPP"

The reality is that eyes are on the Murdoch media (and the Mail and GBeebies) now
The Sun is now a legally proven lie monger
The prospect of Nicky Campbell having a phone-in on a story broken by the Sun is now zero...
Whereas in the not so recent past it was 3 times a week.

For me there is no point having a post victory show trial.

However the labour lord who was co-applicant with the prince has already stated that further action will take place
That doesn't need to be led by HMG.

Sussex but not by the sea
It was a civil case so not much the CPS/Gov can do.

I would like to see a law that any owner/major shareholder of a media company delivering content directly to the UK has to be a British citizen or has to permanently reside in the UK (be bound by our laws). I'd kick the likes of Murdoch out unless they want to risk living here.

Indeed, and which newspaper printed the most lies about Hillsborough? The Sun! Because of the market it goes for it's a lying shit rag and always will be, regardless of editor or ownership.

Having said that, it's a sign of how bad things are that I'd much rather people got their 'facts' from the Sun as opposed to Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, etc etc etc. For all its many many many faults, and for all the shortcomings and limitations of press regulation in the UK at least there is some.

This whole thing has taken 10 years and the est. £10m to Murdoch really is peanuts, Dominion in the US took News Corp for USD800m

The fact is investigators broke the law and editors still remain in place and their careers have continued.

Have there been acts of perjury?

Have individuals perverted the cause of justice?

Starmer may be bottling it. But this need to be ain't over.....

Congrats to Harry, your mother would be proud of you.

There’s also the Daily Mail trial to come. Harry hasn’t finished yet.

The government could bring in legislation about non dom tax avoiding press owners, but that ship has sailed with the internet.

Regarding Starmer bottling it, I suggest you may be falling into a GBeebies narrative.
As I implied above, if Starmer leads on this he'll be defenestrated.

Indeed.
Including 'two tier Kier', the worst prime minister of the worst government in 50 years.

As disappointing as his start is, he is still some way to even being the worst prime minster of the last year.

People are primed for some gas lighting.

He's defenestrated by the right wing press in the UK anyway, it really doesn't matter what he does.

We need Leverson 2, go to war with these f**kers, enough
