The Washington bailout - the economic stimulus that is - reportedly - the talk of Russia.

Here is Mark Biernat talking about the 'morkov' or carrot.
Caveat - this is the first I've heard of it. I've no idea whether there is anything in it or not, what the details are, or whether it will work.

Edit: Usual caveats apply - proceed with caution. It could all be Russian disinformation. You may have read about a Danish
F16 trainer pilot being killed by a Russian missile in Ukraine? It was made up. As Konstantin Samoilov said, things are getting feverish now.

I usually find Mark-the carrot-Biernat's videos very clear (thanks!) but I'll admit that I found this one very confusing indeed - maybe I don't think in the same way as him.
Anyway, I have another carrot:
"Get out of Ukraine and we won't help Ukraine increase the speed at which they totally destroy your oil and gas infrastructure...", something like that anyway.

Seriously? So many accidents in this particular area?
This is a headline from the Washington Post - the article is behind a paywall.

"Ruptures of undersea cables that have rattled European security officials in recent months were likely the result of maritime accidents rather than Russian sabotage, according to several U.S. and European intelligence officials."
Ye, just like Russian oil refineries going up in flames is just carelessly discarded cigarettes. We really aren't stupid like the Russian population so don't treat us like idiots.

I haven't read behind the paywall, but why might this be being said 🤔. Is it 'don't be nasty to Putin when we're trying to get him to negotiate '.....??
I'll wait to hear from the Finns.

I'd have thought if you want to negotiate with Putin, you start by being nasty and put him on the back foot.

No threats to the US today then? Perhaps Putin has had a sneak preview of the peace deal.

The threat rota will be planned by the Kremlin:

Monday - US.
Tuesday - Britain.
Wednesday - France/Germany/EU.
Thursday - Baltics/Scandinavia.
Friday - Free for Solovyev to indulge himself.

By the way, has anyone noticed, that Turkey is never, ever threatened on Russian state TV?

Very good discussion with Jake 👍

Yes, it was very informative. It was especially useful to hear it again - the account of those $250 billion of preferential loans Putin forced the banks to make to defence companies, just to make absolutely sure I didn't imagine it the first time.

How did Putin expect the defence companies to ever pay back those loans, given that what they produce has a rather short shelf-life once it reaches the front? Did he expect the highly successful Russian arms export industry to pay them back?

The Russian economy really is a house of cards, isn't it?

Do you have a summary please?
My memory's not that good 😂. OK...
1. As per Eric's post above, Putin forced private banks to make preferential loans to defence companies, so, war expenditure is double the State's expenditure. Defence companies won't be able to pay back the loans, so the oligarch's are likely to suffer. 👍👍
2. Jake thinks that after all the childish announcements by Trump, Musk whoever...about stopping the war very soon (As you say, at about midday today Washington time...), now he expects the adults will take over (Kellog etc) and the 'children' will just have to listen. Kellog etc KNOWS what sort of opponent Russia has been for decades.
He also hopes that MAGA can soon forget that Biden/ the Democrats were in charge of things for a while: too many MAGA guys automatically reacted against any support Biden gave to Ukraine (a political reaction) - he hopes they will now pivot and see what actually needs to be done.
3. The pro-Ukraine crowd need to start their own weekly podcasts to counteract the pro-Russian shit spouted regularly by other podcasters. e.g. General Ben Hodges (just one Jake mentioned...he's pro Ukraine!). Ukraine needs to start winning back the information war, as MANY people get their 'news' and form their views from these podcasts.
