Harry, Harry, Harry!

An antisemite does not stop being an antisemite just because they change their username.

I know you know that!
Yes, I know.

But I know also that fury about Palestine can tip the language of some people into wrongness.

I fell out with one of my brothers over similar.
I was livid and didn't speak to him for 3 months.
When eventually I did (and apologized for my part in the debacle - I did deliberately wound him up with my clever-arse know-all comments based on my trips to Israel) he had completely forgotten he had slammed the phone down on me.
And we moved on.

I have applied a similar 'reasoning' to our NSC chum.

But like many things, it is a moveable feast, and things can change.
When I think of some of the nonsense I used to spout.....

Whenever I hear the term anti-semite being thrown around my radar starts twitching, I am curious to know what HS has said that makes them an anti-semite. Apparently, because I am a long term anti-zionist I am by default anit-semitic. Which is laughable on many grounds not least of which being by descent I am Jewish.

I don't really understand why so many people have such extreme opinions on Potter.

For me, the facts are that he took over a dysfunctional Hughton team and slowly changed the way we play,ed for the better, and blooded youngsters (as was his remit). We as fans were EXTREMELY patient with him, but just when it seemed he'd got it right (years later, after some frustrating, barren periods) he upped and left. The second half of his final season was a joy to watch and he left us looking like title/Europe contenders, six games in. What upsets many on here is not so much that he left, but some of the quotes - an easy life, history lesson etc. Fair enough to be upset, there's no reason why fans should like that sort of thing, and it's this that makes us laugh as his failure since leaving.

What I don't like are the double standards compared with RDZ. He didn't leave with fan-unfriendly quotes but his conduct was still shit.
I'm not sure about that. I think in general most understood that words can be taken out of context and sometimes just passing comments. It was the way, and when, he left that upset me. And then what he said afterwards became more charged by how he had left.

Does he regret them, or only others?

Hammers will need to make some decent signings this January if Potter is going to turn them around - especially for a striker but it’s not looking great for them: Manchester City are apparently closing in on one of the Hammers linked targets, in a deal to sign striker, Omar Marmoush, 25, from Eintracht Frankfurt and Frankfurt for their part, in the running for Marseille striker, Eli Wali, which is another another Hammers target
https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Act...ort-west-ham-et-bournemouth-a-l-affut/1533324

David Ornstein reporting Hammers have submitted a revised bid of £57m for AV striker Jonh Duran but AV still not looking likely to sell

An awful lot is resting on the January window if Potter’s first 6 months at WHU is going to look anything like a success imo. It would be ironic Potter ends up relying on Brighton to give him a loan deal for Ferguson to keep the Hammers fans happy - although given Ferguson’s form at the moment, that might not go very far to help either.

And I'd be mighty pissed off if we loaned Ferguson to WHU. Not because I dislike WHU; I want to see Potter fail
miserably.

Personally, I wouldn't delete anything that could be deemed offensive. Instead, I would allow the other users to show how and why these opinions were obnoxious to fair-minded people. Banning and deleting content and opinions doesn't do anything to remedy the situation.

100% this. If GP had just said that an opportunity had arisen which was a chance in a lifetime and he felt he had to take it and was very grateful and the timing was unfortunate etc etc then I would have still been annoyed but probably would have understood because it is what it is. The timing was awful as we had just started well that season with high expectations but I suppose that was Chelsea’s fault for sacking Tuchel so early in the season. He however gave the impression he couldn’t wait to get on the first train to London to take the job and his comments about “ if he wanted an easy life he would have stayed at Brighton “ still rile. That showed disrespect in my opinion and possibly his real character after he was given so much patience during his tenure by the majority of the fans when results and goals were hard to come by and we lacked a cutting edge.

Gah. Took a peek in the ignored threads and see this one flooded with speculation and questions about the most boring and certainly most worn out subject in here... me.

Before I go 100% technical (don't want no endless debate on these old horror things), I would just want to ask a few posters (who may who they are) in general and @jcdenton08 in specific to stop bringing in discussions about me and my persona in various threads.

I like my thoughts and opinions getting attention and discussion.

Like others I mention bits and pieces of my life here in various contexts. Some seem to think that entering a football thread to talk about me eating pizza or smoking cannabis or being a "mean guy or is he really a nice guy..?" or whatever is something that "thrills" me or that I "love the attention". Like wtf? Yeah ok I had 200 pizza boxes and smoked 43 joints every day during the pandemic because my life was utterly destroyed. Shit happens in life, I'm not embarrassed by that. But it is boring just like every other "Swanny discussion". EVERYONE thinks its boring except (?) the 3-4 people who feel like dragging these kinds of things into several threads every week.

This is how it too often goes:

Me: some football/philosophy opinion you don't like
Someone: your opinion is wrong because you abused drugs and delivery food
Me: ok thrilling stuff but this is why my opinion is right and yours wrong
Someone: omg look at Swanny making this all about himself!!!!

I'm thinking if @jcdenton08, @Kosh and others who constantly bring up me and my persona in threads (while also moaning about my me and my persona being brought up) could just stop doing that so we can move on and behave like somewhat normal people talking about more or less interesting stuff out there.

Now for answers/end speculation. If anyone have more questions on these things, feel free to send PMs TO ME. Its much more useful, quick and efficent than having some shit at not very factual meta debate AROUND me.

I’ve been called a f***ing C and worse… he’s gone as far to message me privately as such on multiple occasions… very personal and very nasty.
This is correct. I've sent two messages to Kosh.

Oh, and don’t ever try to send me an aggressive/sweary private chat (ahem) again. Like some drunk teenager calling me outside for a fight. Pathetic.

Thats the PMs.

Account was banned. Posts are still up. The last 20-30 posts by Swansman (= me) in the Corbyn thread if someone wants to poke their eyeballs out like I do when I've read them again.

To my knowledge he never apologised, but he may have and I missed it. I certainly regretted reading them.
Apology after return:

Always nice hearing someone who shares my frustration. Extremists won't like you because you're a "f***ing Commie Jew", mainstreamers will either think you're an anti-semite or into bombing hospitals or act as if you're made of glass, and half or so of Jewish communities will see you as either a "self-hater" or "too much of a goyim". Usually I argue against all of it but when I'm pissed off I like to make everyone else feel pissed off (like they want) through pretending they're right.

f*** me I'm not supposed to talk these things. Day off NSC it is... don't make any fun signings... and don't say nothing nasty about my Potter.. 🧐
