Whether you like it or not this board had been inundated with the kind of entitled fans he is talking about. But you and I know it's just NSC and a number of loud but ultimately unrepresentative folks. That's the rebuttal to his posts but instead people seem to be taking it personally. He's not describing you so why get upset?

Accusing people of being “entitled “ has become a well worn trope on NSC to try and silence those who have expressed dissatisfaction with our performances - an accusation that is often made by another contingent of fans on the opposite end of the spectrum who think the Club and manager can do no wrong and who the “entitled” call “super fans” both are intended as slurs - the reality is that the majority of Brighton fans probably have a perspective that rests somewhere in the middle so of course there will be people who are going to take those epithets personally.

FWIW HS hasn’t upset me personally I just think his comments about the “hundreds” of Brighton fans not being appreciative of TB and the 90s was a time fans look back on with an air of self aggrandising is simply wrong however much you want to gaslight people for their responses to such nonsense.

Anyway, like most internet binfests, this has turned into another larger than life discussion that pushes the protagonists into polarised arguments so I’ll leave it there.

And btw re. the thread, good luck to Potter, he was one of our best managers, followed by RDZ who I think was even better but both were flawed personalities as we all are. Their influences continue to be present in the football we play which is a testament to both their individual qualities as managers but that’s it for me. The rest is history. I think ‘phlegmatic’ would best describe my feelings now for both Potter and WHU. 🤷‍♂️

I’ve been called a f***ing C and worse… he’s gone as far to message me privately as such on multiple occasions… very personal and very nasty.

That’s who he is, scratch the surface, ahem - disagree with him, call out some not true BS and he flips and reveals the true person behind the hippy drippy footballing guru mask… he’s a nasty piece of work… always has been.

That’s why I get so upset with his constant bringing down of supporters he deems irrational, compromised and entitled… as for the GP fixation, just plain odd.

Also, crucially, he’s unable to take a joke or laugh at his own ridiculousness at all… not for me, not at all.

In the interests of my own sanity however, I’ll refrain from adding anything else to this thread and go back to ignoring him like I did when he was originally here, and wait for the inevitable to occur, which it will.
Amusing the self righteous of the board appear happy to back a keyboard warrior who deems it acceptable to abuse other posters in PMs.

Is this how ‘exceptionally clever people’ behave?

Good post Zeberdi. Loving the word 'phlegmatic'. Move aside Harry Wilson's Tackle . :)

Thank you - some of this dates back to his Swansman days, but twice recently he opted to send me abusive personal (aggressive) messages which I sensibly chose to ignore/leave without reply.

I’m no saint, and like to wind him up on occasion, especially when he’s spouting nonsense. Thus I’ve opted to pop him on ignore, especially as I’m dealing with some deeply distressing personal stuff right now, and (yeah) I could live without his massive overreactions to any form of criticism and/or just holding an alternative opinion.

I think for me if we are going to compare De Zerbi to Potter, when Potter joined i had a genuine belief he was here to build this club from bottom to top for the long term, i was comfortable that the board backed him for the long term and i felt comfortable and yes some times frustrated with his methods, fast forward to his exit and that came as a complete shock, not only why but how it played out.

When RDZ joined i felt that yes he was a talented coach but at no point did i see him here for the long term so it wasn’t such a shock when he departed

That’s why i think there is a dislike for Potter more than RDZ

I put the previous incarnation on ignore over the antisemitic ranting.
I have found no reason to put the new incarnation on ignore and find his posts/presence interesting.

I don't engage with the Potter debate, but get the impression that HS only has to mention Potter or RDZ and there are several people piling in. But I skim over that.
Harry, Harry, Harry!

An antisemite does not stop being an antisemite just because they change their username.

I know you know that!

But he’s gone. No Brighton fan cares about anything you just wrote, because we are interested in our club, not the prior success of one of our 39 head coaches/managers.

I realise to you and Swansman he’s a genius for his achievements, but to us he’s a guy that came in, changed our style of football successfully, then stayed for a few years with solid but unspectacular results and no achievements of note, then finally started delivering above-standard results and immediately f***ed off - with our entire coaching staff - to a club who had just signed our player of the season and acquired our director of football equivalent.

You can bring an army of Swedish Potter fans from his time over there to come and praise him and still, none of the Albion fans will give the tiniest shit because he’s irrelevant and was immediately upstaged by his replacement, who led us to our best ever league finish ever, then took us to the top of our European group.

I’m really sorry, but English football supporters care about their club. Players and coaches come and go, but the club remains.

And this is the main supporters forum for the club - not Graham Potter.
I must have missed the announcement where you were appointed the spokesman for all of "us" and also know everyone's opinions?

@Swegulls - I like your posts, please continue and ignore his arrogance.

Have you stopped using ‘ignore’?

I have HS on ignore, because I find him wearing, that said I have a large ignore list, and he is the only poster that I sometimes take off, to see his point.

Back on thread….

Have said it before, never warmed to Potter but he is a really good coach, I watched the West Ham v Palace game as abroad, and it West Ham looked a little like us when GP started. I also don’t find criticism of his comments boring, because it was twatish behaviour on his part….

I expect them and him to continually improve in the next 18 months.

Palace well organised but a bit boring to watch IMO.
As we've seen most spectacularly with Southampton, you need high quality, brave players to play out from the back and keep possession. Has Potter got any of that type of player at West Ham?

Thanks tstanbur, it is what it is!

The fact that GP is gone doesn't stop mr jcdenton to slag him off whenever possible. Both GP and RDZ are part of the clubs history whether he likes it or not. Both are good managers, incredible football from both of them, some games I couldn't believe my eyes.

Personally I find things that RDZ said is worse than, after 3+ years, accepting a once in a lifetime deal. I think that's the main thing we don't agree on. If you ever see two people with rose tinted glasses at a pub in Brighton it's probably me and mr jcdenton having an argument ;)

I'll summarise Potter and RDZ:

Potter is the sort of fella you'd hope your daughter would announce as her new boyfriend whereas RDZ is the sort of fella you'd fear your daughter would announce as her new boyfriend.

I don’t slag him off at every opportunity, you’ve got me mistaken for someone else I think. I was the one who just pointed out that nobody gives a shit about his prior successes, and he hasn’t earned respect from Brighton fans off the back of them because we only care what he did for Brighton.

Which was, and I quote myself

came in, changed our style of football successfully, then stayed for a few years with solid but unspectacular results and no achievements of note, then finally started delivering above-standard results and immediately f***ed off - with our entire coaching staff - to a club who had just signed our player of the season and acquired our director of football equivalent.

An entirely accurate recap of his tenure here.

All very fair and probably right, but the lack of objectivity particularly in the GP / RdZ discussions wore me down.
GP was great for us.
RdZ gave us memories forever….

If you look at previous achievements let’s take the Swedish pub league out of the equation and you have a manager who got Brighton to mid table once. He hasn’t achieved any honours in English football. The best manager we’ve ever had quoted a poster, not for me.

I sometimes used to think that I was the only person who'd ever bothered to take a look at his pathetic managerial CV on wikipedia at the point where he joined us. Jeez! Talk about making a silk purse out of a sow's ear :lolol:

Yet (as if often does) it turned out very well didn't it?

Did you think the same about Mitoma's previous career before he joined us?

I would argue that if GP hadn’t laid the foundations then RdZ wouldn’t have profited.
