I’d like to see a break down of his goals, who they were against etc. I’m really not convinced by him.
Do you judge all players after watching them for one game?

He’s a quality player.

Hit the post after running the length of the pitch against us at the Amex. Pace to burn.

Let’s be honest, if Fergie had the front of Delap we’d all love it!

You’re right. I’ve seen him twice. My mistake.

Yes, I have made a statement based on seeing him twice. Given what I’ve seen he’s over rated. Is it a final judgement, not necessarily. What do you feel is so good about him?

Clearly he's doing something right this season, as bigger clubs than us are interested. It's his first ever season in the PL and he's scored a few goals in a poor side, which is not to be sniffed at. Yes, he puts himself about a bit- he's quite old fashioned in that regard. Everybody loves their striker to get in the faces of defenders.

What I quite liked about him is that he's always looking to get the ball forward. While we dominated possession at the start of that game, a lot of it was sideways and backwards, whereas whenever Delap had a sniff, he was trying to find a pass forward, or beat his man. Faded noticeably in the second half. I also remember he looked like a little boy lost when they played at the Amex, one run in behind the full back notwithstanding. So it feels like he's been a quick learner.

I wrote this a few months ago

I really like Liam Delap, real old school centre forward type, bullying his centre half marker. He’s like Haaland, you can tell he’s learnt a lot from him. Defenders will be battered and bruised after playing him. Good player.

I really hate him. An absolute handful and a great eye for goal. Going to be a star.

He’s on a higher level than Ferguson and would be very happy if we sold him, to bring Delap in should they go down which looks likely,

He's doing well in his break out season, as did Ferguson - who is a year younger. Be interesting to see who ends up better over the long haul.

Exactly. We are a little over a year from everyone raving about Ferguson and Linekar telling the world how special he is. Clearly injuries and form have taken their toll on Evan but we are all so short-termed in our thinking - let's not write off a very special player.

In the right system he is potentially devastating but I was wondering how he’d fit into our system with his pacy direct runs given how laboured of our build up play is most of the time

Bursting at pace at a packed defence is very different to how he plays for Ipswich and I imagine he’d lose the ball 9 times out of 10 or be fouled for a free kick, and we know how effective most of our set pieces are

Nice to see a set piece result in a goal last night though.

He would get lost in our system, much like Evan

Hither (sometimes Thither)
Touch of the burly ne'erdowells about him, but bristles with confidence and has a thunder shot in him. He'll have to have a lot more games, and find how to work with teammates, to be more than a bustling charger bulging with potential. 21 though, so maturity will have to come at a pace.

Pace
Power
Strength
Aggression
Work rate
Confidence
Running with the ball
Link up play
Shooting

Apart from that, not much.
