Everything's negotiable tho eh? Especially when you're a poor boy at the EPL top table and an oil state is willing to throw you scraps
There is not always a deal to be struck

Sometimes a selling club can be flexible - they need money to buy another player, they have 26 in their 25 man squad, they arn't that fussed about retaining the player, they have too many strikers etc. - other times there is just a price.

We should not be sucked into the myth that there is always a haggled price to sell at.

Pay the money, get the player.

Pump more barrels if too hard up.

No point in trying to keep a player at this level if his head's already elsewhere. And Cucurella's already is. Dream move for the player. Just like BDB's was. The haggling is EVERYTHING

Nah. The price tag is everything.

Highly unlikely we'll get the money we profess to want, seeing as how it's been pitched deliberately high on account of we never wanted to sell the player in the first place. But seeing as how it's pretty much a given that Catalan manager is going to get his Catalan man, and sooner rather than later, makes sense IMHO for the Albion to grab what they can from the wreckage

Has it been pitched high? I didn't know we'd set a price at all.

It's one thing giving a young player a place in the first team squad to fulfil some club-internal quota, thereby maybe triggering some level of contractual management bonuses. It's quite another thing to ask them to make any meaningful contribution to the EPL bottom line other than first via one or more loan spells elsewhere to further their development. IMHO, like

I agree, but if we do take loans it suggests that the youth system isn't yet producing the players we need?

The youth team is not going to produce replacements for every single player who might leave, so yeah players will be bought and on occasion there might be a loan deal.

Proper throwback this lad. Played like a twat today and was lucky not to get a red, but will be interesting to see where he ends up. Definitely an example of a physical, 'old school finisher' that you don't really see these days. Bet he'd be lethal in the Championship.
Think he should have spent more of his energy and size playing football. Seemed to want to make it a scrap, which is a bit thick really.

There’s a difference between being a physical presence and just acting like a thick thug

For me, he was far more the latter than the former

I heard it tonight from a very reliable scource, that he's got a very punchable face.

He has had a very good first half of the season and represents their best (only?) chance of staying up this season. He got no change out of our defence tonight though.
I’d like to see a break down of his goals, who they were against etc. I’m really not convinced by him.
