Wasn't particularly good last night but overall a very good player from what I've seen.

Bullies defences, pace and power - he's only 21 (FFS) so I think a few are judging a bit too soon - has the potential to be a top striker IMO.

He's where we hoped Evan Ferguson might be at this stage in his career.
I sometimes think if you could produce some kind of composite, average NSC user, they would be spectacularly bad at spotting potential.

The number of times, I've seen in threads about Barco, or Enciso, or Ferguson and others, criticisms which suggest that where they are in this snapshot in time is monolithic and that coaching and experience has no chance of improving the player.

Well he's a year older/ahead, so Ferguson still might have a good season next year when he's 21 - which is equal to or surpasses Delap this season. Not sure why people are so keen to write him off. Two years ago, he was being hyped up like Delap is now. Some things don't progress in a linear fashion.

Agreed.

Hope you're not including me in that writing off - I'm just saying Delap is where we hoped Ferguson would be at now, and he has absolutely ages to still develop into a top striker - we've all seen the glimpses.

An understanding of this would definitely help a lot of people.

Not just regarding the progress of our youngsters, but about the club in general.

It must be very satisfying to look back on one's life and only see forward progress at every step of the way.

Way too many on here saying he's rubbish having only seen him play once!! He's class and we were interested before he went to Ipswich. Didn't play well last night but TBF he's had a lot more good games than someone like Pedro this season.

That’s my free thinking and independent mind at work :lolol:

Let’s see where we are in a few years with him. If I’m wrong then fine. I have just seen too many of these snarling aggressive strikers burst onto the scene and then get found out quickly for not having much actually skill.
You don't spend years in the City academy up to the age of 21 if you don't have much skill.

Taylor Richards? He was only 2 years younger when he left city.

I’m not saying he doesn’t have some talent. Just that the way people are talking about him I expected a lot more.

I’m bored of this and I’m sure you’re all bored of me know. I’ll bounce this in the future and we can see how he’s progressed.

Ref: Evan Ferguson - as noted above (and I think by me previously in this thread), Delap is 20 months older than Ferguson - he'll be 22 in 3 weeks' time.

Ferguson's had it tough this season so far, but last season (when he was 18/19 and Delap 20/21) he scored 6 PL goals from 1,356 minutes played = 227 minutes/goal.

This season - 1 goal from 220 PL minutes... 🤔

Delap scored 8 in the Championship last season, from 2,219 minutes = 277 minutes / goal. This season he's on 8 so far from 1,541 minutes (= 192 minutes/goal) so is better than Ferguson but, again, he's almost 2 years older.

Ref: Wayne Rooney - in the season he was 21, turning 22, he was already into his 5th full season in the PL and scored his 50th PL goal during that season - no comparison to either Ferguson or Delap.

There are people on here who claim players are rubbish having seen them play ZERO times, let alone once :lolol:

He is rubbish though
Eight goals in just over half a PL season (for comparison, Ferguson – who some people have said they think he is worth £100m – has a season high of six) suggests he might not be.
