Can any recommend a flat, fairly long (> 0.5m), fairly quiet area to run in Haywards Heath?

I need to do some "tempo" running as part of my Runna plan and I'm hoping there is somewhere suitable around here.
Jobs Lane (by the Hickstead Hotel)…..couple of laybys you can park in and almost completely flat and very little traffic.

Saw this today on how to get Strava premium for about £20 rather than £55, by paying in Brazilian Real, if you can use a VPN.

Tried it myself and it worked adding a year on to my subscription which ends in March.

Slight amendment to the instructions, don't connect the VPN until you get to the screen where you're entering the name and email of the recipient. So although you see the first screen saying GBP 55, it changes to BRL 150 at the payment screen.

Please note there was some comment saying if you'd signed via Apple or Google Play store that you do have to cancel your original subscription.

ASICS have restocked the Superblast 2. Managed to get hold of some from SportsShoes.com just in time to start the marathon training block.

I've been wanting to try the Superblast, to see how they compare to the Saucony Endorphin Shift/Speed. I bought a pair of Novablast 4 a few months ago and I've been impressed with them.

I like the speeds but they were more fun in version 2. So much hype about the Superblasts so had to take the plunge. Rotation getting a tad silly now as I have not long ago bought the Hyperion Max as couldnt find the SBs anywhere.

I've been finding it difficult to source new shoes recently. In the past, there would always be somewhere to pick up the previous year's models at a fair discount. The Shift has been my regular shoe for a few years but they have stopped making it with the current generation, hence my switch to looking at Asics.

Loved the Speed 2, but my pair were half a size too small. Saucony had a sale but I decided to get the Pro 2 rather than the right sized Speed 2 and I hated it, one of my worst decisions that one! Then got the Speed 3 and it was a completely different shoe, and not in a good way.

Interesting. What was your issue with the Pro 2? I have been wearing Pros as my race shoe since 2021 and I love them. I have a pair of each of the first 3 versions. The 1 and 2 are very similar but the 3 was a real step up (if you pardon the pun).

I've never tried the Speed. I always thought it was basically the same as the Pro but without the carbon plate?

I've just discovered this thread and what a find!

I am 52, just returned to the UK in June having lived in New Zealand for 17 years. I used to run a lot when I was younger, then gave it up, then started again then gave it up again (you know the picture).

Anyway, I started up again when I returned to Brighton and have gradually been upping the mileage every week. I'm currently running 4-5 days and 35-50km per week. I've been doing some Parkruns and recently achieved 20 min 45 at Preston Park on Saturday.

Does anyone know if there are training groups at Preston Park during the week? I have looked at Arena 80's and Brighton Phoenix website and their training session times don't work with my working hours. That, plus I can't imagine track on a Monday after long run Sunday, which is what Arena 80 do!

Does anyone have any experience with Brighton & Hove Athletic Club? They appear to do Withdean track on Tuesdays and Thursdays which would be ideal.

Welcome on board. I'll get you on the 2025 table when it's up and running.
I'm in Arena and have to switch the Sunday run if doing Monday track. I'm not with them for training groups as I like to run solo but love the club races and access to Sussex Masters events such as XC and summer track races (800m and 1500m for me).
You might get a try out session with the clubs without making a commitment?

Lovely X Country run at Black Cap yesterday. 5 mile up and down course. Unfortunately heavy legs from 2 weeks hill work placed me at the rear but felt like skiing coming down.

Welcome too. You might want to try Tom Ulliot’s training group. This is free and runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am not a member but only hear positive things about the group. Most of them are park runners the 19-21 min range.

I found the Speed 2 to be a really versatile shoe, one which was a joy to run in whether it was an easy run or an all out effort. I'm a bit of a Nike fanboy and used to the extremely cushioned Vaporfly, Alphafly & Zoom Fly Flyknit. While the Speed wasn't that soft and unstable, it was on the softer side and added the stability which made it more suitable for a wider range of runs. I also found it fast, just a tiny notch below my all out racing "supershoes", which was great because I always feel a bit under pressure to perform when wearing a supershoe, especially when it's one of the more noticeable ones.

I got the Pro 2 thinking it would be even better, but I found it really hard an unforgiving. It was no longer a pleasant experience for my easier paced runs. And what's worse, I found it slower than the Speed 2.

I think the Speed 3 was roundly hated, I think they realised they'd made the previous versions too good (quick). I've heard quite good things about the Pro 3, but I won't be going back.
