In the last 2 to 3 matches with that lot the difference has been Palmer, he’s a world class player and also rarely seems to pick up an injury. Take him out their side and they’re ordinary. I wonder if he’ll play in the cup match?

Obviously back in the day when we were not in the PL fans would be happy to be drawn against a big PL club…..we are also playing them the following week at home and have played them many times now.

It’s not a beautiful moment drawing Chelsea at home
Drawing them isn’t. But it would be a beautiful moment if we beat them.

I doubt (and would hope) that the FA don't wait until after the Champions League League Phase is over to announce the schedule as that would be after the 29th Jan.

With Man City in the Champions League play offs, and potentially Villa as well, that would rule both of them out of playing on the Sun unless they played on the Wed of the week following in the Champions League Play Offs.

I'd suspect Blues and Villa can't play at home on the same day, so I reckon Blues v Newcastle on the Sunday at some point is a given. Same with Exeter and Plymouth I'd hazard a guess, so can probably expect those games to be on alternate days.

I'd take a guess at the following:

Fri: Orient or Derby v Man City

Sat early kick off: Villa v Spurs

Sat late kick off: Plymouth v Liverpool

Sun midday: Blues v Newcastle

Sun 2pm/2:30: One of Donny v Palace or Exeter v Forest

Sun 4pm/4:30: One of Albion v Chelsea or Man Utd v Leicester

Mon: One of Donny v Palace or Exeter v Forest
FA Cup R4 is on (around) Feb 8th so no way they can wait until the CL League phase is over…….the European knockout phase games are the week following which could impact some fixtures

They may wait until next weeks Champions League and Europa League games are played before announcing the 4th Round schedule. The qualification picture will become clearer so there may be a few teams who know they will or won't be involved in the play off round the week after the FA Cup games. Would still give 2 weeks to sell tickets etc but does impact on any early bird train ticket offers that could still be grabbed now for travelling fans if they announced the games imminently (not sure when early bird type tickets stop being sold).

If they are going with getting the fixtures sorted now then they'll have to assume all the CL sides could be involved in the playoffs so they'd have to play Friday/Saturday. Man United and Spurs could play Sunday as their Europa League game wouldn't be until the Thursday night. Increases the likelihood our 4th round game would be on the Sunday I think. Chelsea are already through in the Conference League so won't have a European game hence our PL game with them being Friday 14th and both clubs would be keen to avoid a Monday night fixture.
