Melting in RH20, Can't say I'm too upset...
It really upsets me that Sullington/Storrington up to Horsham has a Surrey postcode. Postcodes should remain within counties. I have a friend that moved to Storrington and when I saw her address and postcode my jaw hit the floor. Dreadful for a place that has absolutely nothing to do with Redhill in Surrey to be tarnished with that postcode.

In my own strange world
Yes, Arosa. An amazing place, we travelled from Zurich Airport on the iconic trains.

I couldn’t see a 2024/25 nsc skiing/boarding thread.
I'm off to Inari in Finland, lots of cross country skiing, fantastic snow and currently -26⁰C , then going down to Luosto for some action on the piste...definitely recommend it from past experience, always very cold and guaranteed snow from late November though to late April, does get bitterly cold though, last year got down to -48⁰C ..even the locals said it was cold!

We did a non-skiing trip to the Rovaniemi area, staying by a frozen lake at Metsähirvas, one December in the pandemic. Magical holiday. We bought extra warm boots and coats, very much needed. (I spotted some ski slopes).

As its been recorded as -18.9⁰c in Scotland, the Scottish water authorities have decided to add alcohol in the mains water, so as to determine any freezing pipes.
This has resulted in a decline in attendance in the Scottish pub trade.

I missed the Sussex snow event, but came back to today this, it lasted in our garden. Advantaged by altitude and being a few miles from the sea.

Looking at the nearest Wunderground stations, after Wednesday afternoon/evening, there were minor top up's throughout Thursday and on Friday lunchtime. I know others by the coast had light rain that melted their snow.

They are going on about snow bombs hitting UK around 23rd January.

What do The NSC Experts reckon?
They being the Daily Express by any chance ? What they are actually reporting is, I suspect, that Scotland might get some entirely typical winter weather.

Edit. LOL. That’s EXACTLY what they are saying :lolol: ‘Hammered’, ‘brutal’ etc.

There is nothing in the data to support this.

The most curious thing..
EXPRESS ALERT*
Except they then quote the Met Office, who rather ruin the story....

"The Met Office long-range forecast says: “The start of February is likely to continue on an unsettled and relatively mild theme, with periods of rain, showers and strong winds, alternating in most parts with short-lived brighter and cooler interludes."
