It's a 3.5 hour limit
That's what I thought.
It's a 3.5 hour limit
So the 'Rail Safety Officers' haven't got a leg to stand on.
Looks like it's worth taking a screen shot of the 3.3 hours before and 4 hours after to produce - along with ticket - just in case.Might be worth taking this up with supporter services. This is the ambiguous guidance provided by the club.
"This applies for most services between 11.30am and 9pm for a 3pm kick-off and between 4.15pm and midnight for a 7.45pm kick-off."
I have also been told by the barrier operator at Shoreham that he will let me through this time, but tickets are only valid 2 hours before kick off and it is up to me if I get challenged. We pay for a service, I am really not sure why the onus is then on the paying customer to interpret how the rules work and to accept having to travel on rammed services with insufficient capacity.
I’m amazed that with Southern’s reputation that you actually had a train to be thrown off from.
Reasonable force would be one or two people. Three is excessive.I doubt you’ll get very far with legal action sadly, assuming they were all SIA badged if you were refusing to leave the train they can use reasonable force to do so.
That said they’ve clearly not followed their own rules so I’d be taking this up with Southern, providing them all the evidence and see what they say
The club won’t care, they’ll say it’s for you to take up with Southern
Agree … as it will almost certainly happen again otherwise.Reasonable force would be one or two people. Three is excessive.
OP, if I was you, I’d definitely contact Southern and state the details of the situation.

It states until 21:00 for a 3 o’clock k.o. Therefore a 5:30 k.o. Should equate to 23:30.
Username checks out...Reading about this episode people with connecting trains out of Brighton station are going to be nervous of falling foul of time limits.
If you get caught show them the NSC match game post which always has someone saying what time they will be at the AmexAnd, ok, I'll fess up. I've even flashed a random 'matchday ticket' on my phone to a bus driver when we're playing away from home. Never had a dickie bird yet. If I do, I'll just plead ignorance and cough up accordingly.
I probably deserve to be assaulted, to be fair.
Hey - stay off my and Piltdown Man's patch HeavingTed cocker, or there'll be problems - get it?If you get caught show them the NSC match game post which always has someone saying what time they will be at the Amex
I am sure that I have seen the 3 hour rule, which is in place to stop folk using it to travel around in town or wherever, as some posters have admitted to. The club pays transport operators for travel to and from the match, and 3 hours is surely long enough for the local area. You were over the time limit, and thus they were within their rights to stop you. yes, 10 minutes as you claim, seems OTT but the line has to be drawn somewhere, or, life being as it is, people will abuse it left right and centre, if there is financial gain to be made. We were probably between 5 and 10 minutes away from the stadium walking towards the ambulance station, and having stayed to the final whistle, when the 7.35 train to Ore passed us, so you were probably best part of 20 minutes over. This does not excuse an assault, if this is indeed an accurate description of what happened,, but had you owned up to being wrong, or listened to what they were saying, then perhaps the issue might have ben settled more reasonably?I know Arse took about 5 mins per corner, but there only was a total of 10 mins stoppages, so the game must’ve finished sometime around 7-25 to 7-30. As such I wouldn’t pursue the claim that you were within the 3 hour limit too much.
