I often see him compared with Gilmour, TO my mind he is more of an attacking midfielder than a centre midfilder

Have I got this wrong?

Absolutely not.

maybe this is just paper talk, but it does appear a move away from our young South American players

Bunonotte ( loan with possible sale)
sarmiento ( seems to have gone)
barco( possible loan to buy)
enciso ( some on here think he is shite and want him away)
estupian ( as above)
Gomez ( maybe straight out on loan)

of course it could all be coincidence, it it does appear that they are more regarded as cash cows, a la MacAllister and Caicedo.
I think Macca and Caicedo wanted to go. We undersold Macca and oversold Caicedo. As a fan I wouldve rather kept both.

(Tony Bloom gets the money, not you)

Tottenham Hotspur has set its sights on a young Argentine talent that is causing a sensation in the Premier League. It is Facundo Buonanotte, offensive midfielder loaned to Leicester City by Brighton & Hove Albion. The London club has taken a firm step in its interest in the player, offering a considerable sum of 45 million euros to get his services.

'Causing a sensation' 😆 🤣 🤣 😂

Given the fact that apparently all our players and manager are shit, we may need him :ROFLMAO:

Seriously no, he is a good player and should be kept and developed.
Who are you sidelining to accommodate him then ?
Pedro ? Enciso? Georginio?

The story is plainly nonsense. Buonanotte is hardly "causing a sensation" in the PL. I suspect not many neutrals would be aware of him. He did score a couple of really good goals early on but I’ve watched a few Leicester games where he’s beavered away to no great effect. For £45m+ I would definitely let him go. Anything much less, I’d prefer to keep him and see how the Leicester experience has benefited him, and us.

If we need to sell to , which is entirely justifiable, I think the next cab off the rank will be Pedro, he’s comfortably worth double what Facu could command. I’d be keeping him personally.

That's next seasons problem. Lots of water to flow under the bridge before then.

It's really tough.

His best position is 10, but so is: Pedro, Giorginio, Enciso and arguably O'Riley.
There's a lot of money been invested in the attacking mid role. and who is best to play it.

Buonanotte feels like someone we sould be including in the squad, but is there really a place for him at the moment?

We play with 3x number 10s, so there’s game time there for him.

currently, yes, but at some point Huerzeler needs to understand what his preferred front 4 is.

For my money, Mitoma, Welbeck with Pedro at 10 should be shoo-ins with Minteh/March/Kadioglu/Adingra fighting out the last place.
Rutter is the best bet as second choice 10, leaving limited game-time for Enciso and a potentially returning Buonanotte.

I suspect Pedro will be sold in the summer, which may give him an opportunity.

Best thing is to keep him out on loan this season and see what Enciso can bring as third choice, then make a choice between the two about who to keep and who to sell/loan next season.

Very different roles? Gilmour has a neat CM passing/possession game, but lacks pace and wasn’t for us good enough to provide assists. Might’ve thrived in a CM three with Caicedo and MacA … but who wouldn’t?

Buonotte looks to have it all as a creator/forward. Not just based on some LCFC cameos, for us imho he made things happen.
Gilmour is a defensive midfielder whose main strengths are short passing and retaining possession, offering very little threat in the final third.

Facundo is an attacking midfielder whose main role is to create chances and try to score.

They operate in different parts of the pitch and do different things in those roles.

You haven't got this wrong and no you're not going mad.

Question.

Is the talk of us selling in Jan because there's a recognition that we need to give this years accounts a bit of TLC?Otherwise a January sale of Facu or anyone makes no sense for us

Or is it just general media bollocks?

Sorry, might have answered my own question

This is the key point. We got a bundle of players who can play 10 (and only 1 at 9 all the while Ferguson is off form). We can't keep them all happy and a sell of one of them for a profit is probably the smart move.

That said, I'll probably file this under bollocks in any case. I can't imagine Levy the right arse stumping up the best part of 40 million quid for FB.
