They have a vastly more experienced coach, I’d rather have the Fabian Hürzeler of three season’s time than the one learning his trade now, but we’re really committed to bringing young talent through, as we’re doing it with our head coach as well as our players.

As for Ferguson vs Wood, Ferguson all day long. Wood’s style of play would require a Hughton-esque setup, which would take us full circle.

Wood is really effective when you set up to provide him with service, but he’s only really got this season and next. A 20yo old striker who’s already scored goals in the PL as a teenager is by far the better option. He just needs to find his way through a dip in form and confidence, in his most recent performance for us he was properly competing for the ball again. Ferguson isn’t done by any stretch.

On paper, player for player i think we have the better players BUT they all know what the game plan is and they are organised!
If you swapped managers over i think we could be where forest are and vice versa! They have an experienced, competent coach, something we lack at the moment!
Again, I'd be willing to bet that on one on here would have wanted Nuno to be our manager when RDZ went and if you looked back to when he was Spurs boss I bet there weren't many who thought he was such a top coach then.

So it’s not just about points then. Do Forest have a better squad than City ?
Eh?

Over a season the best squads will win out and I said “over a season”.

Forest will finish above us and City will finish above Forest come May. I’ll probably have a few quid on that. City’s squad is getting old and tired though and they’ve not replaced well.

Coaches and injuries can make a difference but injuries are part of a squad dynamic - some players are injury prone. The coach can be binned off but that wasn’t the only reason Palace went on that run. Mainly it was getting Olise and Guehi back. How you replace injury is about squad strength.

City by many accounts are bringing in highly-rated players in January, it will swing it and the monied clubs usually rise to the top in the closing months anyway.

Little harsh on Wood his all round game is very good. He’s someone Ferguson should take a good look at in terms of this aspect. Ferguson finishing for his age is brilliant for sure and he is by no means done.

In terms of the squad there is a lot of talented players in the Forest squad. Defence is solid - midfield they play a solid 2CM and get the ball wide where they are dangerous. What they are is solid hard to beat and play in a way all there players understand.

This is really to highlight what form, belief, confidence and having had a decent period of time to work together. This is a side that struggled last season let’s not forget.

Margins are tiny at this level, and getting a run of belief gets you scoring every presentable chance.

Nuno has needed pretty much a year at the club and shaped a style to suit their squad.

Related, a question I meant to ask a few weeks back...

Who would you rather have in our squad:

33-year-old Chris Wood
20-year-old Evan Ferguson
If Ferguson was out on loan at a decent Championship club and zinging in goals every five minutes, I'd happily have Wood here for a couple of seasons while Ferguson hones his skills and becomes the player he could/should be.
I know Wood was only on loan with us, but he's starting to feel like an earlier version of Gyokeres!

Agreed - they feel like they're "doing a Leicester".

That's not to say they'll win the Premier League - they won't - but as you say, they're a very effective unit, capable of hurting most opponents and have both confidence and momentum.

Is amazing what a centre forward who works hard leading the line can do for you!
I would say that’s the difference at the moment. We have strikers both injured atm . Do we play with the tactics that utilises a striker fully? Not sure we do ?

I wanted him when Potter left:

Not a single 'like'. In fact, this was the only response:
