Ground number 57/57- The Crouch home of Seaford Town for their SCFL 1 clash with Arundel

Yes you heard it correctly, the challenge is complete. A flame that was ignited in me when my ex boss said it "couldn't be done". A journey that started at Eastbourne Borough on the 1st January and has taken in minus 5 degrees weather, a tray of 10 sausages, Brighton vs Roma and countless cups of Bovril.

This ground has become my Everest and were it not for the several mega storms that we have had I would have finished a few weeks ago, but finally the weather has been ok- ish enough for a game to go ahead

Bit of a funny ground this and I'd love to find out a bit more about it's history. Seems like they've essentially built a ground within a recreation ground (similar to Infinity, Bexhill and a couple of others). Plenty of dog walkers pottering about and one French bulldog decided to invade the pitch. Does make me contemplate why I paid to get in though as it does seem like you can just use one of the other entrances to the park. Oh well

Quite a basic ground- just one small stand really. There's also a little patio outside the clubhouse...

...the clubhouse is ok- quite small and basic but a good beer selection from Long Man brewery

Bovril wise- it came out VERY quickly in a tiny Cup- almost like it's in ESPRESSO form. It also came with a slight HEAD on it, and couple with the speed with which it was served, made me consider that it's perhaps ON TAP

The game finished 4-1 and Arundel will be kicking themselves really. Seaford are definitely a good team but Arundel had some lovely possession (without really threatening) before giving away 2 very silly penalties (pretty sure the first one was offside though). The visitors did pull one back with their own penalty and then a home side player was sent to the old bin of sin immediately after. Arundel were in the ascendency and should have made more of this advantage really but failed to. Seaford then scored twice to win 4-1

As for me, I'm probably going to take a bit of a break now. I am pondering whether to turn this adventure into a book which I have tentatively started. Otherwise I'm going to give my long suffering wife a break from me shooting off to random Sussex villages for several hours at a time

Thank you for all the encouragement this year
Brilliant report as ever. Thank you and well done!

Please keep these up.

They have lost 3 in a row since they sacked their manager

That’s a shame for the players and supporters as they were enjoying a good season. They might turn things round but have a lot of lost ground to make up. They’ve also lost key players as a consequence of their hasty change of manager - a strange thing to do mid season when you’re second in the table.

Hassocks at home next match

Think HH had only lost once in the league before sacking their manager.

And he’s poached a few players from elsewhere too.

Yep that top of the table clash with Hassocks could be season defining for Haywards Heath, crazily early days perhaps, but lose that and that could be the title gone, especially with all the behind the scenes shenanigans that have been going on.

As for behind the scenes shenanigans, that finally seems to be over now for Horsham YMCA, our new manager Liam Giles enjoyed the first win of his tenure, a comfortable 3-0 versus Midhurst & Easebourne at Gorings Mead.

Another home game to look forward to tomorrow night, when we entertain local rivals, and Liam's former club, Loxwood. 7.30pm kick-off. All those needing a last pre-Christmas footie fix, will be very welcome!

Two fixtures in the SCFL tonight to wrap up ejfore Christmas.

Horsham YMCA v Loxwood will be an interesting game. The YM manager used to be at Loxwood.
