Meanwhile the West Pier Trust just flogged off some more of the town's heritage:

'Visit Brighton’s West Pier Centre on Saturday 14th December between 10-2pm for a sale of special key artefacts from the original West Pier. These are beautiful and unique cast iron pieces with some minor damage. There is a limited selection available. This is a chance to own unique elements of Brighton’s most beloved and iconic seaside structure.'

Utterly shameful :nono:

A quick look at their accounts suggests that a prominent poster on NSC is a trustee.

I'm happy to see the i360 go bust. It was over-hyped and over-priced. Hopefully it will soon be demolished and the blot on Brighton's landscape will be gone.

As for the West Pier Trust itself, according to the Charities Commission:

Activities - how the charity spends its money

Recent activities include the development and regeneration of the root end of the West Pier through the BAi360 project which includes a strong heritage dimension, opening the West Pier Centre, securing of major artefacts removed from the sea-based pier and working closely with the City Council on the options for the future of the sea-based pier.

So "securing of artefacts". Nothing there about flogging off of artefacts.

I imagine it's creditors and staff aren't.
Not just creditors and staff but, those who have booked and paid for visits with their children on the Santa flights this weekend. Facebook has a number of very unhappy families posting on the Argus and Raising Brighton pages.

I would just like thank the Greens for this very expensive flop which will cost Brighton&Hove tax payers for many years ahead, thankfully I've moved to West Sussex

I worked the opening day, and it was quite clear then the business plan was incredibly flawed. Paid me quite well mind, but it was a bit of a car crash opening. Doesn't surprise me that this has happened, fun place to work down there, made lots of friends (who I think have all now left), and there was always some entertaining nut job hanging around that part of the beach. I used to take the piss a lot there really, and probably did about 60% of my shifts hungover, and in the world's worst name drop, I served Conor Coady in there once. Shame for the workers that they have such uncertainty before Christmas. Only Greggs to go under now and it'll be a clean sweep of my former employers, having been in administration.
Were you in charge of the route planning?😎

They have a talk about the history of socks and sandals lined up for next September.

There's money in the pot.

Edit...quite a lot of money in the pot.
The objective of preserving the “benefit area” made me chuckle. So, sticking a 100m cigarette in the air next to a Grade 1 listed derelict structure is really going to preserve the “benefit area”.

If you look at the "Who we are page", they're either businessmen or ex-politicians (who more often than not are also quite into business..).

Not a single word about anyone having anything to do with history, cultural preservation or anything else related to what their supposed to do ("inform and eductate about this old pier").

When they sell the artifacts they're supposed to preserve, you might wonder what the purpose is. The real purpose.

(and before someone complains about my foreignhood: should have thought about that before you spent £46m for me to go up and down in this thing...)

Indeed. Rachel Clark the WPT CEO has made a tidy living of £70k a year for decades.
I do like a quick audit of charity financial statements from the charity commission website.

Fact Check:

Last years accounts show that the trust spent £69,130 on 1.4 roles. CEO and Business Manager. This figure includes employer NI but there is no pension scheme.

If she has been receiving £70k a year ‘for decades’ she is not now.
