Not a comment on away days, but this is exactly what I told a neighbor in ESU who literally manhandled me for briefly rising from my seat over a big chance during the Ajax home game. For such a quiet lot, some of them are quick to get physical!

If you look on the away ticket website you’ll see the following on the landing page “You must bring photo ID (e.g. Passport, Driver's Licence) with you to the game. The ID must match the name of the owner of the ticket.”

I’m not saying I agree, I’m just pointing out it’s part of the T&Cs

Personally I think the club use the system to their advantage when it suits and they refer to arrests related to people with no entitlement to away tickets but no stats, and buying a ticket from a tout isn’t illegal.

Actually it is illegal. Look it up. The reality is that that enforcement is very difficult. And don't forget we are only talking about ticket sharing whereby you might give the ticket to a mate for nothing or at least only the face value.

I remember a group of us singing 'John Wark's got a face like a hippo's bum' and PC Beard a friends picking on one of us and chucking him out. It was standard to issue bans for nothing in particular. They got off on it.

We dreamed of being chucked out for drug offences. Just for something serious. Just once.

I have looked it up. Scalping is illegal, buying is not.

Where does it suggest otherwise?

On of our club sanctions specifically refers to refusing to show ID.

The email is ineffective for the morons and insulting to those who can manage to act normally when leaving the confines of Sussex.

Giving a ticket for nothing isn’t touting. But is a breach of ticket rules (unless permitted by the club). So if you’re a standard STH it’s not permitted.

Whilst I agree, it does mean no one will have an excuse should they f*** around, get found out and then be told "that'll be your last away game for a few years sunshine."

Crying that it's all unfair won't work then.

Which is farcical given my West Ham ticket in my Google Wallet doesn't have my name on it, just the fact that I am a Wolves supporter

"We're watching you" goes a long way though in general, even if I can't speak for this situation. In any bunch of fuckwits there are the leaders and the followers and the followers might opt out if they know that Big Barber has banged the drum. Also might increase "internal policing" in the sense that anyone can say "you should calm down, didn't you see what the club said?"
