To be honest, my reasoning actually goes a bit deeper than that. I didn’t watch much of last season live as I needed a break from football and from going to our games, as I think we’re moving away from the feeling we always used to have of being a family club, and into a machine that only really cares about money and sees fans as consumers. I feel as disengaged with football as I’ve ever felt, and barely ever watch matches other than ours now.

Coming back this year, I don’t think has really changed that feeling - if anything it’s made it even worse. I’ve left the last two games early, and walked out of both not really caring that I was leaving, and being more worried about whether I can get home by a decent time, whereas that never would’ve happened over the years of going before.

Maybe it’s just middle aged apathy. But then again, the day started on a poor note having to share the train with Palace fans wearing balaclavas whose only intention was to cause trouble… and it didn’t get much better after that.
When fans stop behaving like consumers, and demanding we beat 'teams like Palace', and then walk out effing and blinding in front of kids when it goes tits up, I may take the 'treated like consumers' bolleaux seriously. I was treated perfectly well today by the club, thank you very much. But we lost.

Some of our supporters are f***ing cry babies, and far too invested in win-heroin for their mental wellbeing. Not healthy. Stop.

But this is common in the EPL.

Who can name EPL clubs who take a shit result with a pinch of salt, carry on singing and move on afterwards?

There's Liverpool (smartest, classiest fans in the EPL in this respect, hubcaps notwithstanding). And, er.....hmmm....

Oh well, never mind.

This thing about solly coming back when do you think this will be , I can’t see it or him being the same player after all this time out
That`s the key question , he got injured i think it was 3 seasons back and we had the same worry , would he lose his edge or a yard of pace - i just hope the old adage stays true " form is temporary class is permanent " (y)

I have thought in recent games that Carlos doesn`t play a conventional CDM as Bis and Moises did but also plays higher up the pitch because he is needed , there just doesn`t seem to be the same support in MF if he doesn`t . Our MF has looked a bit watered down this season , some injuries i know but something is missing , so my wish is for another CDM in the same mould as Carlos -we need some strength there imo .
I agree, something missing in the midfield set up.
Carlos seems to float around, sometimes playing higher up - and then, if we lose the ball (which we do too often IMO) we look very light on defensive cover. He's still quite a 'loose' player (I know he's young), can make a great turn and run but too often loses the ball. He needs solidity around him, maybe it's Baleba, Gomez, Weiffer, together or rotated.

If Velts isn't available, I'd play three at the back.

You’ve taken my existential crisis personally. I’ve never felt like this in all our previous years in the lower leagues. This is a post-COVID phenomenon for me, in that I don’t like the way football or the club are moving forward in how they treat fans, and it’s left me apathetic and disengaged. You’re entitled to disagree about how I should feel, of course, but your over the top reaction to the reflection of a lifelong supporter puts you closer to the balaclava Palace fans I saw today in mentality, than it does to me. And I don’t have time for the tribalistic crap, as I’m not a child.

Anyway, I believe there was a thread on here about this very topic, not too long ago.

Been to wakes with better atmospheres. Yet again there is a swathe of people in the North who DO NOT help towards the atmosphere. Really getting on my nerves. Crap all round today. Crap ok the pitch and crap in the stands!

Bloom will give Fab till the end of the season, at least. Up to him to get it sorted by then. We were hitting a lot of long 50-50 balls out to the wide players today. I'm not sure that's going to get the thumbs up.
With the money he has spent I'd expect he will have wanted a better return. Our form against the relegation threatened teams has been appalling and in those games we look like the team at the bottom

At least we aren't the only top half team to lose at home to lower 'rivals' today. I'm taking that comfort. Sorry if already said, too depressing to scoll back.

Thing is, we haven't been shit enough this season. Law of averages says we have to be a bit shit from time to time.

Today was one of those days.

When we learn to be not shit from time to time, we will avoid doing shit things like shipping two late goals to lose at home.

One day we could be as good as Man Citeh. They would never......oh, hang on.

Dare to dream :lolol:
It wasn't 1 game, it's been 4.
Identical problems

You sound like your issues have nothing to do with the Albion.

If you rock up with baggage you are destined to leave bereft, even if it is a good win.

I have a mountain of shit to contend with right now. Football is a blessed release.

I leave my shit at home when I set off.
And I arrive at the Amex expecting nothing while hoping for the best.

Mind you I'll probably have a football catastrophe nightmare tonight (again) :lolol:

Definitely if you look at Weiffer and O`Riley as the creative and attacking MF and Carlos as the anchor in the CDM role where does the magic come from ? that is the something missing that we haven`t had since Pascal , man do we miss him .

I think it always used to be for me, it’s just less of a release now because of the frustrations I have.

Having our new seats be in the WSU rather than the middle of the North Stand has had an impact too - I used to spend most games standing up, singing. Now I can see every tactical detail, get more frustrated that our manager can’t see how poorly he’s set us up, nor can he seemingly realise what changes need to be made, and I’m seeing that whilst surrounded by people sitting down who barely make a sound.

Although part of it definitely is to do with the Albion - I hate the ticketing system we have in place. I’ve been to two games alone this season because my dad couldn’t come and it was more hassle trying to give his ticket to someone else - football on your own is atrocious, and I’m happy doing many things on my own. And on the two occasions I put mine on the exchange, they didn’t sell (Spurs I was on holiday, Forest I was sick).

I’ve also experienced the train system for the first time in all my years of going to the AMEX, and it’s a clusterf*ck. I’ve no idea how we have a system that works so poorly (unless you have a disability that allows you to jump the queue of course - or if you just jump the queue as many seem to do, in huge groups). It makes game day a real slog.

As I say, it’s a mixture of many things for me, rather than me throwing my toys out of the pram after a bad result.
