It sounds like it is a 'couple' friendship so nice restaurant / posh hotel afternoon tea for 2 (so they can go as a couple etc) - somewhere they might not immediately choose to go or a place with NSC recommendations in the restaurants thread so you can blame the NSC community if they have a poor experience. You can always attach it to a bottle or something so there is something to unwrap.

This is probably what I should do.

Is there a nice restaurant somewhere near Storrington? Otherwise maybe I'll have to get it for here.

So it's basically your partners who've caused the dilemma!

Does your mate like a decent fragrance? It's not the sort of thing he might normally buy as it's an expensive luxury item. However, as a gift he might appreciate it and here's the clever bit since his partner gets involved and benefits since he ends up smelling nice. Get her involved in choosing so you don't actually have to trawl the shops and you give her the money. Don't go cheap and definitely get her involved as she will have an idea what he might like and what she might want him to smell like. Whilst it may seem a bit cliche there's a very good reason why fragrance sales peak at Xmas.

Is it the abundance of sprouts ???

Booze or collectors stuff. If he's a Pompey fan maybe you can pick up some Pompey shit somewhere?

Can we swap mother-in-laws? We had a load of pies arrive (qvc I assume), which I ate with the kids. I think it was my xmas present :ROFLMAO:

It's a friends birthday and I'd like to buy him something, but as usual, I have no idea what to get.

Since a lot of you are middle-aged, what would you get your friend, or indeed what would you want yourself?

Thanks x
a decent top shelf bottle of fine wine or spirits.

Cheap and easy though.

Just email the Pompey fan who cosplays as a souvenir pawn shop and ask him where the best junkyard is.

As others have suggested a couples dinner would be good. The only time I see my brothers these days is for a dinner out to celebrate a birthday or Christmas. I'm taking them out for pre-Christmas lunch next week. A nice walk around Rye, Bosh.
