Should they be banned?

Irrelevance.

They already are. They are a pit bull breed and should not be owned by anyone.

At the very least they should have a muzzling order on them.

I have no idea why anyone other than a criminal moron would want to own such an ugly, dangerous, monster. Let alone have it in the house.

I’d like to see the breed wiped out.

What say you?

I remember the outcry in places like Sheffield, Derby and, yes, Hastings when Major tried to bring in a dangerous dogs act (I think it was Major).

Interfering with peoples' freedoms.

"Wouldn't hurt a fly".

Etc.

I'd like to see the same sort of pile-on we saw over the chav rioters a while ago.

Let it be assumed that when a dog of any sort attacks then it is a criminal case with a custodial sentence.

That may focus a few (what passes for) minds.
minds? you can’t possibly focus what they don’t possess.

Today's quiz challenge. The neighbors XL Bully had to be put down due to ill health. However not wanting their chihuahua ( I'm not kidding) to get lonely they've just bought a new puppy. Would you like to guess what breed? :ffsparr:

The curious thing is that they are ostensibly a sensible pleasant young couple with young kids.

It's been illegal to breed or rehome XLs for nearly a year. Is it possible your neighbours have a Ambull, mastiff, sbt or any combination thereof?

Something little discussed amongst the proponents of forced euthanasia is how tricky it is to identify a breed that hardly truly exists. Breed specific legislation in the UK is pretty poor, nothing to do with breeding or genetics, but 'type'. An approx set of measurements and look. What even is an XL Bully, the law certainly doesn't know.

Sorry you've totally misunderstood. Of course the new dog is not a bully. They've bought a Rottweiler

It's very simple, have a list of approved breeds, but way too complicated for politicians

Probably best to take the baby into social care, the parents and grandparents are evidently too stupid to look after a child. Who owns such an animal around a baby? Have they a pet Salt Water Crocodile too I wonder?
It's not just babies though. I wouldn't fancy my chancies against one of those vicious bastards.

Offer an amnesty for XL Bullies to be handed over for euthanasia and have a 5 - 10 year sentence for anyone in possesion of one after the amnesty has ended. That will focus the minds of thick bastards who feel the need to have a killer dog.

looking at the sizes of those houses why, just why is anyone keeping any dog much bigger than a poodle in it. Why don’t dog keepers think about the space they have and a bloody great dog pent up in it ….

As per post above yours though, what if you happen to be just plain thick and stupid? You wouldn’t have thought about space and capacity let alone it being dangerous. It’s really hard to appreciate just how stupid some people are. NSC is a bubble, everyone on here can’t be simply because they can use a computer. Out there though…it’s frightening isn’t it? And we all have the same rights too! There but for the grace of and all that. Anyone of us at anytime could be mauled or killed by Stupid or Thick-As’s XL-Frankenstein. As innocent people already have.

"One family member told the BBC the dog, named Hunter, had never shown any form of aggression and that the attack was out of character."

I've sat on a number of dangerous dog prosecutions and there's one thing they ALWAYS say is that "he's never done it before".

The "All dogs can bite" argument makes me laugh, too. Yeah, sure they can, and most of them can be kicked into touch, if need be.
These things are not the same. Ban them, in the same way that zombie knives and guns are.
They have NO place in our world.

💯

The difference between normal dogs and these is the same difference between fighting a toddler and fighting Tyson in his prime.
