Why can’t we all just get along?

All this bullshit hostility, this inconvenience, expense, time wasted. Just go to the bloody football match, enjoy the experience and drift off home again after exchanging a few friendly words of commiseration or congratulation with the opposition fans.

Some may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one…
Because for a lot of people football is about rivalry, and these games are what make a season. We've had palace as a rival as long as I can remember, it would be incredibly boring if every team got along. Some of us don't want to drift off home we actually want to enjoy our day.

Are you head-mental? This is El Gatwicko we're talking here. Oh yes it is...

Well that was easier than I thought…

Great contribution. Some of us actually want to make our full focus to enjoy our day at the football rather than worrying about how everything is a waste of time, there is actually joy to life, rather than focusing on the negatives.

I seem to remember that both sets of fans were let out at the same time after matches at the Withdean with no trouble (that I saw or was aware of). Yes, this fixture does seems to bring out idiots on both sides but I suspect that take away any segregation and there would be little if any trouble.

The main problem is the trains, there is enough friction between Albion fans waiting impatiently without adding 3000 Palace into the mix. Keep Palace in the ground until their train. Invoice them if there is any damage caused.

I recall one evening game at Withdean where me (and if memory serves @Simster) got off the same train in civvies straight from work in London at Preston Park station and somehow ended up being coralled along with the Palace fans and marched under police escort all the way to the ground while all the way being roundly abused by Albion fans. SAKE!

Only ever been in the North and the West stands so am not sure whether this would work , but how about all those needing to leave in a clockwise direction from their seat use the concourses and all those needing to leave in an anti clockwise direction use the outside of the stadium until you reach the nearest exit to your destination ? .

further update on the club website

The club will be implementing various safety measures towards the end of the match against Crystal Palace on Sunday, where supporters leaving the Amex to reach the coach park, park and rides and car parks will be directed clockwise to reach their destination.
As a result of the safety measures being implemented, coach departures will be delayed by around 15 minutes later than normal.
Visiting supporters may be required to remain in the concourse for safety purposes for approximately 25 minutes after the final whistle.
There will be a special train for visiting supporters, and those wishing to use this will be escorted to Falmer Station in good time. The service will call at Three Bridges, East Croydon, Clapham Junction and London Victoria. This is the quickest way back to south London.

So shut Palace fans in for 25 mins, get everyone going clockwise, past the closed South Stand, and then let the Palace supporters out and escort them to the train station shutting the West Stand and North Stand West exits, as they go by, if required ?

Complete and utter madness

Why is there a need to implement any sort of clock or anti-clockwise movement if there are LESS supporters around post-match because 3k are contained in the away concourse?

Same as a lot of things these days. "Paredos law" (97% of the problem caused by 3 % of the audience).
Police need to identify this small group of Matalan ultras, and vigorously escort them away.

The 0-0 game when we absolutely battered them, the return match for the 5-0 drubbing they were definitely kettled afterwards in the car park. I know that because as we’d been kept in up their place for an age, a load of us decided the favour should be returned, we wouldn’t go home and this resulted in them being kept kettled for a long time too!

Guess the 25 mins is necessary to make sure they get the Whey-faced Poltroon Express back to Shitsville…….

We weren't held back - Albion fans were free to head off after the game.

What they did do, sometime after the game, was close the shutters and entrances to the West and North stands so that when they escorted the Palace fans, who had been held back, to the station, there was less likely to be aggro.

There were a lot of Albion fans in the concourses drinking and celebrating, and the police didn't want the two sets of fans getting at each other.

I think both yourself and @Milano experiences are both kinda true. When they escorted the Palace fans out of the ground back to the station they weren't letting Albion fans leave. I remember going for a piss and there being a build up of people on the stairs not being able to leave.

That was the day Norman Cook met me! One I'm sure he still talks about to this day......

So they were holding Albion fans back but AFAIK prior to the Palace escort Albion fans could have left after the game.

Also just been told the one way system could be in place BEFORE the game as well so those of you that get taxis or dropped off might have to walk the whole way round the ground. I've bought our taxi forward by 15 minutes in case.

What is this 'clock' of which you speak? ???
Indeed. Mrs P left her phone at work one day last week and started a panic that she had no alarm for next morning. Fortunately I was wfh next day but had it been a commuting day for me, not sure what she’d have done 😂

Cant see anything on the OS about implementing BEFORE the match. Seems well OTT and will confuse the heck out of just about everyone and cause an unnecessary bottleneck by new fans zone building. The flashpoint surely has to be before the match and with 2pm KO I cant see many CP drinking in Brighton is it worth half an hour to leave in time to get to Falmer? Dunno why they dont have a special train down to Falmer as well as outta Falmer that way surely the fans are kept separate as much as you possibly can.
