Silver lining: only 16 more points and we're safe from relegation. I'm old enough to remember when this was our primary aim for at least the first three seasons in the PL.

As for getting a metaphorical kick in the gonads, imagine being a Leicester fan - winning the league less than 10 years ago then a few seasons later getting relegated.

Funny old game.

I'm well pissed off with the late capitulation and result today. However, it is a sign of how far we've come that we have these high expectations.

However shite we may be, according to the table, there are still 12 or 13 teams who are worse than us.
I might take being relegated to the National league if we won the Premier league......

Well that was frustrating again wasn’t it. We‘re so naive.
Still it’s an away point and we’re creating chances.

We were lucky to get a point!

1 point gained ...

Let's play 3 at the back .... again..

Welbeck on ...yes... but the other subs at the end...

Fab out before the fa cup... as that's the only thing we can go for now 😞

Obviously Caicedo and MacAllister’s departures left a big hole, but this squad is better than anything that RDZ, we’ve filled the midfield with O’riley, Weiffer, Ayari and Baleba but Hurzeler can’t seem to find a balance yet.
We’ve not played a full 90 minutes of good football yet, though oddly the results (on the whole) have been coming, I guess we should be encouraged that we’re sitting where we are whilst not being particularly great, but at some point Hurzeler has got to get this team to gel and find some consistent performances.

I keep seeing people saying this but Is it? We spent money but I’m not sure any of them are showing much evidence of being better than what we had before.

Fed up. Brighton blew it again! Good results against the stronger teams yet struggle to win a game against a supposedly weak team. It doesn’t make sense. So inconsistent, it’s honestly ridiculous.

Rutter/O’Riley far better than the combined alternative of Gross/Lallana in that position? Gross obviously a great, but Lallana an injured passenger.

Ferdi better than Lamptey as a defender.

I am not pissed off , I have just come to expect that firstly we can’t beat teams in the bottom 6 , and if we are 2-0 up against a bottom 6 team we will either draw or lose , we will draw next week against Palace ,
Europe no chance

I’ll give you Ferdi but neither Rutter nor O’Riley are better than Gross. Lallana barely played last year so you aren’t comparing them with him but we had a number of players in those positions, Adingra, Buoanotte, Enciso, Joao Pedro etc and tbh those players LAST year were playing every bit as well as any of the new guys, though they have gone off the boil this season.

I’m not saying the new players are poorer or bad players at all. I’m just not seeing this massive leap in quality people are alluding to. We have more players, and they cost more, but the difference in the pitch isn’t clearly better.

ETA - We are definitely not better than when we had Mac and Caicedo around either.

I'm finding it pretty difficult to fathom out what's going wrong. We were in total control at 0-2, Leicester were poor, with virtually no goal threat whatsoever...until we handed them two on a plate.

Hurzeler made the substitutions, but he should be able to rely on Premier league defenders being able to defend a powder puff attacking force.

I've rarely seen a side fall apart quite so spectacularly in such a short space of time, against a previously anaemic opponent.

The manager has to somehow get us back on track, especially with Palace coming up.

As I said before it's a tactic as old as time, used by pretty much every manager in the League. We did it against Newcastle taking off Danny Welbeck and bringing on JPVH. We won that day. Liverpool replaced Mo Salah with defender Conor Bradley going into injury time against us in the league to protect their 2-1 lead.
Exactly. How many people can put up their hand and say honestly - yes, I mean honestly - that they didn't think at the time that bringing on a defender to shore things up for the last five minutes was a good idea?

No, put a sock in it - not you; I said honestly!

I thought straightaway, good, well done Herr Hurzeler, same as most people did. Quite why Igor suddenly chose to play a football version of Russian Roulette I have no idea!

I have to admit I only saw the goals but the defending on the goals looked awful, what was we doing when we were 2-1 up?
Was that Igor?

Avoiding NSC like the plague this evening, hate reading all the miserable bastards who are incessantly moaning, failing to take into account any perspective - these things happen, and we will have the opportunity to improve on our mistakes. We have a young talented team and a young talented manager - we are NOT Man City (although only 3 points away from them).

Before I log off for the evening, I would like to share my views.

Lots of positives for me today. Lamptey was outstanding - by far our most underrated player.

Good performance from Verbruggen, couldn't have done much for either goal, made a cracking save and good distribution.

Minteh looked lively when he came on - quality goal. Raw, but a real threat.

Wieffer showed some class when he came on too.

Of course there are negatives. We should have put the game to bed. We should have remained focused and positive. Hurzeler was too negative, and the subs did not work. Ferguson is not fitting in this squad - he needs to be loaned out to improve on aspects of his game.

All of these negative outcomes will surely result in lessons learned. As long as we DO learn from them, we are still very much in the race for Europe, and beyond.

Goodnight NSC - you miserable, negative, pessimistic, entitled bastards.

Bottled it suggests fear. I don’t think it’s that so much as naivety. it amounts to the same thing though.
I get what you are saying but honestly that entire injury time period I saw nothing but fear and panic from us. I actually thought they could get a third

And just to tie the bow on the ribbon of today the usual bunch of sanctimonious claptrap from the world’s greatest Brighton fan in his own mind

I’m so fed up of those wet lettuces that say ‘oh, but little old Brighton are 7th in the league, Withdean, Gillingham, nearly going out the football league 30 years ago blah blah blah’ what the fck has that got to do with us letting a 2-0 lead slip with less than 10 minutes to go for the second time this season. They’re professional footballers, professionals! It’s like a surgeon turning up to work drunk!
