Yeah true but it not just that. Its everythingLike I say, google maps is perfectly happy with the existing naming structure. Who even uses google earth for anything, other than maybe an oddball with a bee in their bonnet hunting around for something - anything! - that supports their crackpot idea

Google Earth does know about Brighton and Hove. Both Maps and Earth will pull most of its data from the same place so it makes no sense for one to know about it and not the other.
Here is proof too just to put more holes in the OPs claims. His version of Google Earth must be stuck in 1993 with the Brighton vs Swansea game he went to.

Okay. You seem to really believe in this so... as a resident of 50 something silly years...Hello Eric,
Yes, I did join to promote the petition. I have a deep patriotism for my city and club. The reason I want this is because I want the city to be up there with the best in England same as our team . Our city often gets undervalued because Brighton and Hove are frequently seen as separate entities, which undermines us globally.
If this change happens, Brighton will be the biggest city in the South, fact. and to be honest, I’d love to see a sign saying, “Welcome to the City of Brighton.” That’s power. There definitely wouldn’t be any disadvantages, and we wouldn’t lose anything.
Put it this way—if a new hotel or residential development is available in Brighton, it’s naturally more appealing, isn’t it? As for costs, there’s no need to rush things, like changing all the street signs immediately. Hove would still be part of Brighton, but I’d love to see the first street sign with “The City of Brighton” on it .
I’m not a councillor; I’m just someone from Brighton. My first game was at the Goldstone Ground in 1993, a 4-1 win against Swansea. I went to Gillingham regularly, taking the bus from Hove, and now I’m a season ticket holder.

He just said the club would stay the same so I guess he was ok with it. But i wasn't trying to change our club anyway.Gava, you say 'I've also emailed Paul Barber to make sure the club would be okay with this idea'.
What was Paul Barber's response?

Or still reading itI’d imagine he’s still waiting for it
Forget the idea for a second - are you having trouble posting? As a tip hit the 'carriage return' key when you want to add a new sentence, not the 'Post reply' button.Worthing Eastbourne are there
Absolutely. He also said 'If the club were against it, I wouldn’t go any further with it.'I’d imagine he’s still waiting for it

I remember that match well. Evening game. Not 1993 though, April 1994

A lot to unpack there. It's a contradictory statement you make. That Brighton & Hove is a city makes it a single entity with two distinct areas. The title merely reflecting its history. It's meant to. How does this undermine us globally ? Do you have evidence of Japanese investor saying 'I'm confused by this clearly boundary defined city ?

No, it won't, because Brighton & Hove is already the biggest city outside London in the South of England (depending on how you regard Milton Keynes). By changing the name you cannot change the boundaries

You might love it, but Hove folk won't and neither will the many of us who regard Brighton as a town anyway. I support Whitehawk, a few years ago they wanted to become 'Brighton City' they were quickly told where to go by the supporters.
'By adopting “Brighton” as our official city name, we aim to bring a stronger, more unified identity to our community'
There was me thinking the word 'and' had caused enough annoyance. Good luck convincing the folk in Hove of this
In summary, your petition is a waste of council time (if it goes to debate), is nonsensical in its logic, and I really would go back to enjoying the chant 'knees up Brighton town' or 'And Brighton, Hove Albion...' because that is where nearly everyone is at. It won't be changing.
Anyway, 53 people have signed. I suspect mostly divorcees whose ex-wives or husbands have shacked up in New Church Road with Toby the accountant. A few thousand folk have viewed this thread alone. Maybe time to retire. Did someone say you lived in Saltdean ? I hope that's not east of Longridge Avenue, because you may find that you're not even
What I mean is we get overlooked. The city often doesn't get seen as Brighton and Hove, which then doesn't show our true size, pop ect and de-values us. Boundaries wont change. Like I said Hove will still be there but it'll officially come under Brighton. Hove status wont change its just uniting under a single city name.Okay. You seem to really believe in this so... as a resident of 50 something silly years...

Absolutely. He also said 'If the club were against it, I wouldn’t go any further with it.'
Yet, he has already started an e-petition, and he's joined NSC, posting a thread to elicit support for it.
All without a response from PB. I think he's getting a bit over-excited
