He’s clearly had a crisis of confidence for various reasons.
Being 19 would be a massive one.

I reckon I would have been a nervless finisher, and bearer of the hopes of every desperado middle aged man in Sussex's projected dreams of success at the age of 19.

But I was too busy crippling my nervous system with sambuca, wanking myself towards the 21st century and spewing two terms of student loan to Barclays bank because i didn't know the difference between a credit card and a debit card.

COME ON EVAN. SHAPE UP!

Yep, that and being ill, injured and working under a manager for an entire season that by all accounts was throwing coffee pots around when he couldn’t get his way, being overly critical of young players and training them to get injured 🙂

I don't see the potential in Ferguson that many other fans do. He looks like a shadow of his former self. Perhaps he can score a one off goal but he is not an out and out striker. Welbeck and Pedro are far more clinical.

I don't think he is in the right state of mind, he looks like he has lost a lot of confidence. I really hope he can excel sometime soon but at this moment of time he reminds me a lot of Aaron Connolly.

Said it before, say it again, a loan to Celtic would do Evan a world of good. He'd be scoring for fun, and would come back all the better for it

i have complete opposite opinion. I think he is an out and out striker and that is his problem First touch is often poor and it his off the ball work is poor. Not good at running into space to recieve or to create space for others. I said months ago needs to study Welbeck who apart from anything rarely goes to ground.

With Welbeck out against Fulham was the time to start him and hopefully play him back into form.
Pedro as a nine wasn’t working don’t think he had a shot.
Had two very early on, coming in from different angles.
It’s a different game playing with someone who you play in, rather than someone who holds it up.

His decline has been dramatic.

From January - September 2023 he looked like peak Harry Kane but for the past 15 months we’ve had Billy Painter. It’s been a long time since he even resembled a Premier League striker. You expect kids to have dips but this has been a worryingly long period of poor performance. I’ve seen numerous illness and injury excuses given but it get to the point when there has to be more to it than that. You can keep making excuses but how many years is he given to sort it out when the period of poor performance dwarfs the good?

He looks miles off it now. I’d be quite happy with a sale or loan in January now to be honest as I think he’s got a hell of a lot of work to do to get back to the required level and we need better.

I’m not going to criticise or get on his back as he seems a decent lad and think he’s trying but have to agree with the feeling his decline has been dramatic and just doesn’t look like turning it around. He’s gone from potential superstar to potential league one in a 12 month period. I’d def support a loan to try and get him going again.

Looks so mardy and lazy when he’s playing this season, especially for Ireland. Confess to losing faith in him. Let me be wrong, but I agree a Championship loan and plenty of playing time and he might turn it around again.

I think it’s so hard to judge anyone who’s had so few minutes over the past 12 months. Something’s clearly not been right, but I think the instincts are still there. It’s just a case of playing regularly enough to get those instincts fine tuned.

Given our options, I suspect that’ll happen elsewhere for 6 months, which makes sense.

I have to disagree wirh yr thoughts.
He's come back from injury, cannot get into the first eleven, due to Welbz and Pedro playing well.
So obviously his chances are going to be limited and you cannot always expect him to come on and have an impact, especially when for the last two games, where we haven't won and the whole teams morale hasn't been that great when struggling to get that win.
He's got a strikers selfish mentality, where he needs to be playing and scoring regularly.
It will come for him and hopefully soon.
