An impressive 50 from Jacob Bethell in 37 balls.
Onto Wellington with some vineyards on the way.

He said after the game it was a minor issue with his back and he stopped bowling to manage it. Of course, he’s not going to say if it is bad straight after a game but he didn’t seem too concerned.Any news on the Stokes injury? Be rotten luck just as he got fit again after all his issues.
It'll be interesting to see what happens at Wellington. For me Bethell is not yet a Test batsman, let alone a number 3. And a white ball thrash is not going to convince me otherwise. Do they bring Robinson in and put Pope back ?An impressive 50 from Jacob Bethell in 37 balls.

…and yet Bangladesh took a first innings leadOver in Jamaica Sussex's Jayden Seales has taken the remarkable figures of 15.5 overs, 10 maidens, 5 runs, 4 wickets at an economy of 0.31 rpo in dismissing Bangladesh for 164 (71.5 overs )
Unchanged team announced, so presumably England were more impressed by that final innings knock than you were. I say that, they probably would have kept him even if he'd been bowled first ball. It'll be interesting to see what happens at Wellington. I had a feeling they wouldn't change it. After all, they won. Pope, in fairness, had a tidy game behind the stumps and didn't cost us. I'm sold on Bethell as a white ball player. But he is in the Liam Livingstone mold and not a Test number 3 long term, even if he does have a good series.Unchanged team announced, so presumably England were more impressed by that final innings knock than you were. Jacob Bethell holds No.3 spot as England name unchanged side for second Test vs NZ
Ollie Pope to continue as wicketkeeper at No.6www.espncricinfo.com
I thought Bethell shaped up fairly well for what it's worth (i.e. bugger all), even in the first innings up until his dismissal off a pretty decent ball. I'm not all in on him or anything, but I've seen far worse looking batters turn out for England over the last 10years or so.
I also quite like Pope coming in down the order, where that slightly manic style he has makes a bit more sense. I'd never thought about it before but it did occur to me that he bats like a wicketkeeper and keeps like a batter. Not that he did much egregiously wrong with the gloves in the last match, but I wouldn't want to be relying on him to stump Williamson or Jaiswal or whoever on a turning pitch.
Only minor quibble is it overlaps with the next Aus/Ind test. Back to back would have been the dream scenario! The wonderful news is it all starts at 10pm tomorrow again. Just after the football. So a couple of hours bat 'n ball before bed.
If Carslberg did December.
Sounds great, except having to fit sleep and work in. That said, I record matches, avoid score updates, and then watch later. An advantage of the modern world.Only minor quibble is it overlaps with the next Aus/Ind test. Back to back would have been the dream scenario!
I do the same. It has its challenges, like turning off the TNT wicket tracker thing without noticing any of its unwanted updates. Then avoiding all social media and threads such as these. It's the likely lads for the 21st century.Sounds great, except having to fit sleep and work in. That said, I record matches, avoid score updates, and then watch later. Lovely. Time to move on from tonight's shite and settle into a bit of night time CRICKETRY.NZ won toss and INSERT. Stokes would have chosen to BAT. Everyone a winner thus far.
