The poor white working class. Accosted by blacks, women, the middle class. It's almost as if they were in control, and have now lost it.

Well that's what Elon wants you to think anyway. And its worked.
I think you may have misread my point. Most of the claims about Wallace are historical, maybe Lorraine Kelly will be complained about in years to come.

Equality……

Wicks himself commented on the outfits during strictly and has joked about how revealing they are.

It was on live TV. Hardly sneakily telling him off camera what she had been up to with her partner in the morning.

The sniff thing is a bit odd, but using that as some sort of comparison to Wallace is SO SO weak.

The latest allegation (dropping his towel in front of a ghost writer) is SLIGHTLY above this.....

I have never heard an Australian say this about Captain Cook. The prevailing narrative is that everything that has ever gone wrong here is the fault of 'your lot' (the British) coming over with invasive species and colonialism, not including themselves of course.

It is a handy yet short-sighted way to relieve themselves of any blame for anything.

I had this discussion at the weekend with a few mates and asked them when they thought Australians would take over the running of the country and accept some responsibility. 😂
Yes, that narrative rings very true. I googled 'why are Australians obsessed with Captain Cook', after someone included him in a complaint about 'progressives' being intolerant of Gregg Wallace's misdemeanours. After googling it, it actually does seem that Australians really are obsessed with him. Whether they do that because they need a scapegoat for Australia's current problems, I don't know, but I suspect you are right. The nugget that someone thought that he was born in Australia appeared on some forum - reddit I think.

Whatever Captain Cook did or didn't do 250 odd years ago, I think it is time Australians let it go.

Do you have any examples (of the way that social change has generated unreasonable intolerance)?

I can't think of any
This subject requires its own thread, but just a few examples of what I find excessive.
The Austistic girl who was recently dragged through the FA disciplinary process and banned for 6 matches because she dared to ask a bearded player If they were male. When she was told the person was trans she apologised.

Rodrigo Bentancur 7 match ban for making either a sarcastic comment at a journalist or a crass poor taste joke about a friend of his (take your pick which version you believe), as a comparison I couldn't find how long Jack Rules was banned for nearly ending O'Riley's career so I assume it was only 3 matches.

My own experience when I called up the ABC radio to speak out against the vile actions of the Israeli government and being accused of antisemitism, they hung up when I pointed out that I was anti-zionist not antisemitic which would be quite difficult as I am jewish.

My Stepson runs a large state NGO which is rife with political correctness, the one example I will give is a woman demanding a colleague stop bringing her lunch etc to work in a harry potter bag or face the sack, why? Because the author is a transphobe.

Maybe Pete will have changed his mind in twelve years time? It won’t be so funny then.

Meanwhile in North Yorkshire, hordes of woke militants storm the Captain Cook Monument:

Look at them. Lining up to tear it down.

Tricky to complain about things that haven't happened yet
I dunno, quite a lot on here were complaining about us dropping points last Friday before it happened

There are eejits everywhere.

But it isn't a conspiracy.
