I don't really think anything's a done deal yet
What I meant, is to use a phrase that cropped up with a general or two last year I think, is that Ukraine seems to be 'shaping the battlefield'. It is taking out radar installations. It took one out at Vitino on the SW coast the other day.

Crimea is the jewel in the crown for Russia. It is a holiday destination for Russians, but is hugely important strategically. If held by Russia, Ukraine could never rest and would forever be fearful for their sea trade.

Kerch bridge anyone? What a time to blow up the symbol of Russian oppression......

When they interviewed people in Crimea before 2022, I got the impression that trade was down, as Ukrainians used to holiday there more than Russians. But I guess that was before the bridge was built.

There comes a time when propaganda and disinformation can be self-defeating.

Remember the terrorist attack at the Moscow concert venue? Russia tried to pin that on Ukraine. Now it's Ukrainian commanders in Aleppo.
The Russian elite must have a very low opinion of the Russian masses.

🤥
I always wondered what would happen if instead of reporting Russia's BS seriously, our journalists just scratched their chins and said, 'chinny reckon' everytime one of their propagandistas said something.

That's assuming the propagandists actually exist. In my post 18,532, there is a video from an academic, who relayed a claim by Margarita Simonyan, head of RT, that many of her panel members don't actually exist, but are now generated by AI. She was proud of it as well.

What a very strange, alien country Russia is. Let's hope it all collapses very soon.

Indeed, Ukrainian officers have enough spare time to pop over to Syria and help the rebels. That propaganda doesn't reflect well on the Russian might!.

Events are hotting up in Syria, rebels advanced into Aleppo.
Have read that Russian sources are getting concerned if Russia would be able to successfully defend Tartus, their only naval base on the Mediterranean, if rebel momentum continues.
Also Assad is in a Moscow hotel...with his family... I wonder if he's planning to go back 🤔.
I know it's a bit of a side issue, but apparently Russia had already diverted troops etc from Syria to the fight in Ukraine... the 'empire' is getting stretched.
If Assad is in Moscow with his family it’s surely game over for him

It's tricky isn't it: she says they're AI, but then the Russians normally lie anyway 😂

But as Prof. Tim Wilson said, with AI-generated panelists, you don't have to worry about protesters holding up placards with 'no to war', and don't have to worry about these newscasters looking alarmed at alarming news, or shocked at news which is blatantly false.

To give an example of the AI technology available in 2017, here is a speech that Barack Obama didn't make. It was made up by the University of Washington.

One day comrades, you will all be millionaires.

Just more examples of Russian state propaganda that’s deliberately aimed at the majority of the population who don’t understand basic economics and / or can’t believe (don’t want to believe) their government would lie to them. But some of this stuff must surely be getting beyond credible for even the thickest of them. Will there be a point where people realise that their every day life is being blighted by high interest rates and inflation that are the consequences of the policies of their government? Probably, but will they be prepared to go out on to the streets to protest about it?
