[Albion] Something HAS to be done about the home atmosphere

From the club's summary of Barber's meeting with Seagulls Over London last Monday:

Paul said that away fans will almost certainly be moved to a different part of the Amex from the 2025/26 season. Although there was no statistical evidence that the current south stand arrangements gave visitors any benefit, the consensus inside the club is that what looks like 25% of the stadium being given to visitors (despite the 10% allocation) can motivate away sides where they attack the south end where their fans are.

Gluton for punishment, I watched the Saints game again, well some of it, and for the first time Sky had the surround sound set up with south and north coming out left and right side. If you've got 5.1 and the live match in UHD give it a try. You'll be surprised how much we get out sung.

I’m intrigued, where did the sound from the West Upper come out of? :lolol:

Away fans always make the most noise - it’s the nature of the beast.

Couldn't be less surprised that 3K well positioned away fans outsung 27K home support. As away fans ourselves, especially in a match where we competed well on level terms the majority of time, how often do we EVER fail to do it?

From the rear speakers. Honestly. It's the first time I've heard surround sound as it should be. The Albion chant at KO was good, then the Saints kicked in.
As been said before what happens on the pitch determines the atmosphere and noise off it. Chelsea 4-1 and Man City 2-1 are good examples.

Surely nobody who was there would be surprised? Worst atmosphere yet for me, especially when you consider it was a Friday night under the lights. It even felt muted when we scored!

Ah I was waiting for the traditional post-terrible result “actually it’s the fans fault for not being Dortmund at home against Bayern every week actually” thread, was worried it wasn’t coming

I put up near the away fans and so that's my experience every (home) match. I ought to do a spreadsheet of what times each match we get to hear "Football in a library" in the first half and "Is there a fire drill" in the second.

(Obviously I am singing non-stop every second of my life.)

We are NOT Palace:-

Paul Barber has praised Albion fans – and contrasted their “sheer passion” with other, more choreographed, supporters.

The chief executive and deputy chairman wrote in his programme notes for the Southampton game about how he was impressed by the backing the home team received as they beat Manchester City.
He said it was not a first and hopes it is by no means a last.
Barber wrote: “The atmosphere you created that evening against the champions was simply fantastic – and it came from all areas of the stadium.
“It was generated without drums, with nobody dressed in black using loudhailers, no organised singing sections, no song sheets and no goal music.
“It came as a result of your sheer passion to get behind the team which was heard loud and clear by millions of TV viewers all over the world, drawing admiring comments from media outlets in many countries.
“Critically, your great support came when we were having a tough time and were behind in the game – not just when we were playing at our best or winning.
“You undoubtedly lifted the players and you helped make a real difference to the outcome of the match.
“We’ve seen and heard such an atmosphere generated numerous times at the Amex now and it’s simply fantastic.

OK don't always get it right & yes should have been more vocal on Friday but would rather that than be like shit Palace.

We even outsung a drum backed stadium last week (B'muff).
You say that , but I was sat in home seats (same stand, other end, as no chance of an away ticket) and I couldn’t hear a thing from you guys , except at the end.
So the noise wasn’t as loud as you think it was.

This, we're starting to get mocked by other teams by how quiet our fans are home and away. We sound loud because we're next to each other, but we really don't make that much noise, nor do we have a large selection of songs anymore.
