Well its finally happened, Dave Altendorff has gone from Whitehawk after a 3-0 away loss to Hendon, which wasn't terrible all things considered, especially after their 9-0 victory over Hastings at the weekend. I liked Dave but in the last few weeks it does seem with results showing very little signs of improvement, it was time for a change. I don't think he'll find it hard to get a job, theres a good manager there just not at Whitehawk. The main man Shaun Saunders is back, so hopefully an upturn in results, get a good feeling back at the club.

What was the reason for Saunders leaving in the first place?

Yep, made my first visit to Leylands Park since before COVID started and probably won’t be invited back any time soon!

Hill’s 11 match unbeaten run came to a shuddering halt against mid-table Heath.

Hill should have been 2 up inside the first 10 minutes but Heath gradually got a foothold in the game and Goldson scored a hat trick before half time. When Hill missed a penalty early in the second half, you just knew it wasn’t going to be our day and despite huffing and puffing, the game petered out into a disappointing (but deserved) defeat.

Ground number 56- The Oval, home of Eastbourne United for their SCFL Premier clash with Horsham YMCA

Were it not for the very late postponement at Seaford last week this would have been my final ground, as it is I'll be hoping that the Seaford pitch recovers pronto

This ground has recently had a complete renovation, and indeed I did turn up here a few months ago expecting to see a game only to be presented with a building site

Regardless the renovation has definitely been worth it and both the ground and clubhouse are in fantastic condition and the 3g pitch will hopefully bring some money into the club

At half time I wondered round the outside of the ground and you can still just about make out and envisage how it would have looked as an oval shaped ground, in fact there's a small bit of old terracing left on one side.

The clubhouse is decent and brand new. It might take a bit of time to bed in but it's very pleasant with a good drinks selection and friendly staff. It's not massive but there's a decent amount of seating, a pool table and 2 TV screens. It's a good little facility

Inside the ground there's also a cafe serving hot food and drinks, including, of course, the brown nectar which set me back and above average price of £2 (PEPPER AVAILABLE THOUGH).

In terms of the ground on one side there's 2 stands- one seated and one standing, and one seated stand behind one goal. Otherwise there's hard standing on all sides, however they seemed to not really want people to stand behind one goal for some reason. There's also a VIP box on the halfway line

It's a good ground for sure.

In terms of the game it ended up being a fairly simple 2-0 win for United. Much more simple than it should have been really as YM missed a fair amount of chances at 0-0 and 1-0. They were generally quite wasteful. Perhaps, like when I saw them at Bexhill, they struggled to cope with the maritime conditions.

Anyway, would come back here, in fact I've liked all 3 of the Eastbourne grounds

Seaford next which will be my final ground (probably need a bit of a break from football after that). Big pressure on them to entertain as I am STILL yet to see a 0-0 draw this year

I witnessed a bit of a dull affair at Whitehawk but the home side just about deserved a much needed win over Folkestone Invicta - unusual name

I went to watch a pitiful Hastings United lose 0-3 at home to Dartford. It's all gone horribly wrong at the Pilot Field and relegation looms.:down:

Half non league but as this is a sort of ground hoppers thread i’m sticking this here.

Me and the boy went to AFC Wimbledon v Dagenham (1-2)

I’ll keep it short.

A great Saturday night out, friendly people, really nice club, good atmosphere and songbook, plenty of food options (pie meal was a tenner but as football food goes possibly the best I’ve ever had) plenty of beer options and a pub …. (pauses for air)….INSIDE the ground.
Well worth a visit if you’ve never been.
