Even if he hadn't flicked out his leg he was clearly interfering with play in that position.
Agree to disagree, players are stood in offside positions for goals all the time. It was given because he flicked out a leg which may have hypothetically altered the goakeeper’s judgement. I think it was very harsh, but was worth a point to us in the end so I’m happy.

It was probably the worst all-round performance of the season, particularly the second half.

We still come out of it unbeaten at home this season, 2nd in the league, and only 2/13 lost this season.

Could be worse chaps. Let's stay grounded...
I mean that’s blatantly not true.

It was, however, the worst collective finishing performance I’ve seen from the team in years, and that says something. Mitoma set the tone in the 3rd minute missing the sitter he missed… and they kept piling up from there.

On another day, we’re 3-0 or 4-0 up at half time.

One team looked bottom of the table in the second half and it wasn't Southampton.

Terrible attitude that revisits every time we play a relegation team at home.

And that ref can do one too.
Well the ref and var did us a favour there. Really harsh on Southampton that one

I think it was very, very harsh. He flicked out a leg behind him, after the ball had passed him. I think we’d be absolutely livid to see that given against us
Reminds me of the offside goal when MacAllister hit his worldie. Mwepu flicked at the ball in an offside position before the ball went to MacAllister and it was given offside. Same principle tonight.

We played poorly, ref was poor but pub before the game was good and I'm sure when we get back the pub will be good! A mixed bag tonight then!

Yep, was extremely harsh and incorrect then too, in my opinion.

Too bad we considered illegal to have any urgency before the ref held up a big fat sign saying "10, you might as well do and try something useful".

In rhe cold light of day, this Saints team pushed Liverpool to the end.
Liverpool the best team in Europe ATM found a way to beat them.
We've done well to get a draw, should've taken our early chances!
Still a point and second.

Frustrating that we struggle to beat the bottom teams but we keep going and keep learning.

We really needed to bury our chances.

Doesn’t look good for Mitoma that. Really poor tackle and Karou looks like he’s got a nasty knock.
Southampton deserved the draw but our attacking play in the send half evaporated.
At least we have Baleba back and Dunk looked decent when he came on.
We missed general leadership in the second half.
Having a lack of leadership when our captain is back isn't great

Trying to take the emotion out of it. I don't like seeing goals like that ruled out. The player didn't do enough to to really say he interfered with play

What an immensely disappointing second half. After a very good first half, usually world class players Joao Pedro, Mitoma, Estupinan all really sloppy and infuriating and Ferguson and Adingra were a total waste of time.

Really not sure Van Hecke at right back was the best idea either.

Credit to Giorginio and Ayari though, they really wanted that win.

We often say this in games like this (Ipswich etc). But the reality is - 'on another day, we do exactly the same as we did tonight..'
Well, quite. That doesn’t stop the fact that we mullered them first half. Nor does it stop the fact that we had enough chances second half to put the game to bed even though they were much better.

This is a finishing issue. It’s been a finishing issue for a while.
