Ignoring the massive straw man point at the end, I just don’t think rain would ever put me off going to an away game I had a ticket for.

Snow is different. If I had a ticket for Newcastle away and saw on the news that snow was causing havoc in the north-east I’d think twice about driving, for sure. I used to live in the north and well remember the near-annual chaos on the roads. But rain in Bournemouth? Come off it.

‘ Massive straw man point’ ?

It is exactly my love for the Club and a desire to support them in any way I can that makes me feel gratitude for fans that can get to away games because I no longer can.

You may not accept that gratitude, (thank you for your commitment and the money you spend supporting our team) you may diss it or even mock me for expressing it, but don’t presume to know my mind and heart please ,

The implication that I don’t think the players need or appreciate away support — a claim I never got close to making or even hinting at. Do I particularly appreciate the efforts of people travelling to Bournemouth? My emotion is more akin to envy at having enough points to go, rather than congratulation TBH. It’s one I always earmark but never get close to qualifying for. It sells out to the top tier of ST holders.

I think you had better put me or the thread on ignore - me expressing my feelings of gratitude for fans who are able to give the club the sort of support I can not seems to be offending you or pushing some buttons for you.

Go to bed 😂

Accept that gratitude may not be the only emotion available for local away games. ‘Lucky people’ is more my response. Tempered with an acknowledgement that in order to get into the top tier of STH points someone needs to have put the money and hard yards into travelling away over a number of years. More than I’ve been able to do. Good luck to them.

oh dear - I simply made a thread to express my personal gratitude for the fans who attend away games - it is what I felt and what I chose to express and post on NSC for personal reasons.

If you personally don’t want to accept my gratitude for your commitment to away games or appreciate my gratitude for the support you give the lads ( As I said, being disabled now means I no longer have a ST or can travel much so I feel those that do, carry my support vicariously) then that’s fine too.

I appreciate that there are feelings of ‘envy’, even ‘resentment’ with some fans ‘points harvesting’ the easy to get to local away games and the way tickets are distributed etc, lbut I was just expressing my feelings of gratitude for everyone who attends away matches - ( you included) because I no longer can - and it clearly can make a difference to performances and the lads appreciate it - so for that I am grateful - the other issues are an entirely different discussion.

Now go to bed FFS 😅

It was a terrible drive down and even worse coming back. Took it easy at 50mph. Luckily most other drivers were doing the same.
Was soaked even before I got in the ground and it didn't help having to queue for 15 minutes to get my ticket due to the club's draconian away ticket policy with one person behind the glass.
Inside the ground the rain did ease for some of the game but then got heavy towards the end of the match but the excitement of hanging on distracted that.
At the end the fist bumps from the players really made the day especially JPVH who was awesome today.
A great away day victory not spoiled by Bert.

Agree…….driving conditions were particularly grim on the way back (drier than expected going down tbf) but pretty much everyone on the road was being sensible surprisingly. Luckily traffic wasn’t heavy.

Wouldn’t have missed it for the world though :)

Edited to add: if there are extraordinarily bad conditions down there at the moment, fair enough. I’m in Home Kong at the moment where it’s a balmy 23 degrees C.
To be fair, it’s a bit more than just a few spots of rain.

Drivin' to t'Carlisle?
You were lucky.
I crawled on me 'ands and knees to Rotherham. Old stadium ???
It's funny you say that Harry, because I've done the drive to Carlisle (2-0 down very quickly, jeez what am I doing here?) and nearly got refused entry at Barnsley's Oakwell ground, not Rotherham, from approaching the turn style on said hands and knees as was hammered and just glad I'd got there after a massive hike up a large steep hill from the pub to the ground.

Anyway, back to the thread! ;) :rave:

Horrible drive down there, and even worse coming back in the dark. Took it sensibly - best to arrive back later than not at all. Must admit when I saw the forecast I did think twice, and my row B ticket meant I got soaked through but so glad I went. A bonus was that my secret parking spot was still there - meant I was back on the main A road out of Bournemouth within 10 mins of applauding the players

It’s Bournemouth, so any patrons under the age of 60 for some pubs will be ‘high risk’ :lolol:

Thank you Bry - Just noticed I’d given us a clean sheet - Was it over exuberance on my part or a typo because I’m half asleep - I’ll never know. :lolol:
Truth is beauty and beauty is truth.

A clean sheet is lovely, so a clean sheet it is.

The dull part of the south coast
Given the weather conditions and having to brave them in the dark coming home, I'd say it's commitment.
We took a wrong turning coming out of the stadium to get back to Pokesdown station. Ended up next to a cemetery, it was pitch black, very windy and chucking it down - shades of The Omen. It was enough to put the willies up you. Wooo! Wooo! o_O

That it was only available to a relatively small number of people and would still have sold out if 5 times as many tickets had been available.

Nothing wrong with the sentiment at all but it would have made more sense re the Newcastle trip a few weeks ago, rather than a local game.
100 miles is hardly 'local'. Add in the bad weather and the replacement buses ...
