[Albion] Demand for away tickets

I had a ticket for Liverpool Away a couple of weeks ago - was rough as f*ck all week and despite getting up and getting ready to go - I had to call it off on the day. The lad and I revieved a grand total of 0 points between us… as it should be 🤷‍♂️
Would have been lovely if we still got them but I completely agree you should get the points for attending matches not for buying tickets.

Random one but someone explain why at the amex and other similar sized stadiums, we give 10% away capacity. Whereas at bigger stadiums they don't give 10% e.g. Anfield and Emirates we still get circa 3k seats for a 60k stadium. Never known the reason for that, why not 10% across the board?

I think it’s 10% up to a cappednumber. I thought the PL cap was 2.5k but it could be closer to 3k. Except for FAcup games when it’s 15% but with no cap.

edit. PL is a minimum of 3k if the ground capacity is more than 30k

The Premier League rule is minimum of 3,000 tickets or 10% of capacity if the ground holds less than 30,000. No club is going to give more than 3,000 ish when they don't have to.

In the FA Cup it can be up to 15% of capacity but the home club can ask for the cost of the tickets upfront which puts some clubs off asking for too many at the bigger stadiums.

Most clubs just offer the minimum. If a stadium is over 30,000 seats, it’s 3,000 seats minimum. Stadiums under 30,000, it’s 10% minimum.

I've heard similar, I missed 1 euro game last season,my wifexwas rushed to hospital, I rang club to inform them I couldn't travel, more out of respect and hopefully they could resale, didn't even get a decent response or the points sadly

Yet in other countries, Spain being a good example, the away allocations are minuscule. I went to the Seville derby at Real Betis with 60,000 in. I reckon there were under 1,000 in the away fans section. It seems to be similar even at the Classico.

One thing that is different there is that you do get a bit more mixing of fans and so there seemed to be a fair smattering of Sevilla fans around the stadium who jumped up at the relevant times. That just doesn’t happen here and if it does they seem to get ejected/filled in/both.

There's no real culture of away following in Spain - main issues being distances (average distance between clubs is around 400 miles), games are very often late KOs and they have a habit arranging actual times/dates at quite short notice too. Add to that ticket prices, crap seating (have a look at where the tiny away block is in the Cam Nou for example) and it's hardly surprising. I was going to say the same. Fans rarely go to away games. Indeed, in the case of the 'big' clubs, there would be more home fans supporting the away team than visiting fans. Yes, it's a big country, but travel is easy. As mentioned though, seating is awfull and KO times do tend to change.
I was in Madrid and Athletico were at home. But the game was undecided (Euro games following week) until a couple of weeks prior and the actual date and KO time around 10 days prior.
