With all respect, people did get a kicking for simply being/looking English on our European tour (they put you in jail for that now), but it wasn't reported as such. Theres a lot of context here, with all respect having a bit of knowledge of Israeli Ultras and their Ultras movement, while it doesn't justify the actions of targeting all fans, they've put a target on themselves with other actions, which could have been avoided. Israeli ultras are no immune from political posturing and following factions, to me, this just seems some football related violence spiling over into politics.

May I also say that going around asking people for ID to prove they aren't Jewish/Israeli is also completely reprehensible.

I’ve travelled all over the world with England and have no sympathy with troublemakers who get a kicking. Especially if they are politically chanting or antagonising based on a grim war

So 2 friends of mine who went to the game speaking English were told to speak Dutch or Arabic or they'd be punched. They showed their ID and are hugely shaken up.
What astounds me, is that it was the commemoration of Kristalnacht yesterday in Amsterdam as well as a team from Israel coming to town. The NCTV (Anti terrorism unit) saw absolutely no threat. I mean, really? The authorities were incredibly slow to deal with it too which is why there's an even bigger outrage here.
The issue is a lot of these people came from all over The Netherlands to cause trouble; I saw it on snapchat accounts I follow calling for it. The vast majority of people who came do not see it as a Palestine v Israel issue, rather an Islam v Jewish issue.

It does seem a massive failing of the Dutch police force, a lot of games involving Israeli sides have been played behind closed doors. People have come all over the Netherlands to cause trouble, and at the same time, Maccabi Tel Aviv Ultras turned up acting like complete helmets, just a mess of a situation really.
Can you explain why the travelling fans bought the war and the IDF into it when it’s a football match? Easy to find on social media flags and stickers being plastered all over the place yesterday of people serving in the IDF and political , antagonistic slogans

Absolutely this.
There was a protest organised outside the stadium and the mayor thought it was a good idea to move it... 1km away. It's just pure incompetency all round.
