Brighton 1-0 up against Leicester thanks to a Nikita Parris header. We are currently second in the WSL!
Playing very well but should have perhaps had 2 goals going in at half time. Sounds familiar?

The commentator is weird. Every ten minutes he's said 'Leicester are coming more back into it'. They've had only 31% possession, zero shots on target and indeed zero shots. They've only had just over a hundred passes. What is he on?

What do you expect? He‘s never played the women’s game  He’s only there for “tokenism “.

The commentator may well be a local radio Leicester bloke because he's just biasedly said 'this is the pattern we've all too often seen with Brighton effectively passing it about and building from the back and that hasn't given Leicester of much opportunity'.

He shouldn't be framing our good play in a negative manner.

I see what you’ve done there and it was well delivered.

But I personally have very rarely seen the type of post you’re parodying on here, although I imagine it’s rife in Daily Mail and The Sun comments sections.

Emma Hayes is one of the best analysts around, actually talking about systems and imparting real football knowledge into her comments, rather than simply reacting as an echo to the commentator (think Alan Smith). Whereas Karen Carney is just dreadful, spouting inane shite to justify her presence.

There are good and bad male and female commentators and pundits, which I believe on NSC is the shared default position.

Have just watched all of the game. Delighted they won and are doing so well plus fully agree and admire the backing given to the womens game. However there is no doubt they have to attract a new audience. Supporters of mens game unless they take family will not go and watch that. It is and will always be a different game. Of course admire Bloom for considering a new stadium but even in Brighton will this attract more than average of 4k ish. At £10 ticket it would still be subsidised by mens game unless big sponsors appear

We weren’t at our fluid best today, Leicester were often lined up with a back 5 and were pretty resilient, Parris looked knackered after about 65 minutes so there was a bit of a breakdown with the forwards. I think if they were playing regularly in Brighton you could expect a crowd of circa 4000 which I think is pretty decent.

Fabian Hurzeler was there today.

I was there today. I last went to a WSL in our first season after promotion and I'm glad that the crowd has grown a bit . I ultimately believe that it'll never really take off until they're playing regularly in Brighton

As someone who doesn't watch much, if any, women's football I was impressed by the standard. I think Brighton's spine was very good with 2 good centre backs, a very good defensive midfielder, Parris up top and of course Fran Kirby who is an exceptional player.

It should have been much easier and the game could have been put to bed multiple times really. Ended up being unnecessarily nervy at the end

It's good to see so many families and teenagers at these games, I imagine it's a good introduction to football for many

And how much has the men’s team been subsidised by Bloom since he took over ?

It’s inaccurate to say the men’s team would subsidise the women’s, Bloom is

Albion Women are so much better organized defensively this season than last - just 4 goals conceded from 6 games.

That was always going to be the area that needed fixing first. Build from the back whilst adding quality up front in the shape of Kirby and Parris.

After today's gritty victory and clean sheet, they can go into Friday's game away at Arsenal with every confidence of picking up at least a point.

I'm really excited about Friday's game for this reason. Hope we can capitalise on a lacklustre Arsenal streak, play our game and take points.

The formation was a bit of a head scratcher today, usually we lineup with 3 centre backs in Carabagli, Bergsvand and Thorisdottir, today McLauchlen started in place of Thorisdottir but was playing quite high at times, and Olislagers was dropping back but she normally plays centrally with Losada.
Still, got the win and perhaps Dario was experimenting slightly.

Also, McLauchlen was skating on thin ice today, I watched her elbow a player in the chest and then later on kick out at a player when she was on the floor. Doesn’t hurt to have a bit of feistiness in the team,

I didn't spot those incidents from McLaughlin, but wonder if she was trying a bit too hard. Only her third appearance for the Albion since joining and her first league start since coming from the Scottish leagues. I don't mind someone putting themselves about as thats something that generally we don't have (Haley is the only one who doesn't seem to mind muscling people off the ball) as long as they're not silly with it.

The question I have about our starting line up is about Seike - scores a hattrick at the start of the season and then hasn't started any other matches. Maybe shes carrying an injury that they are managing.

Reallky hope we hear some news about the new stadium soon - been going to Broadfield every season and it still doesn't feel like 'home'. Don't know whether its the fact that its outside of Brighton&Hove, or that I know its only temporary (apparently), or that its so red!

Anyway already only 6 points off last seasons total, and Friday evening a free hit away at Arsenal (hope we give it a good go) - a fantastic season so far :albion2:

Me and four others who regularly go home and away with the mens team went yesterday and watched that, so what a load of bollocks.

You must have missed the endless posts about Alex Scott.

Mind you, these are mostly new threads started by NSC's very own Fake News generator, he of fake morbid obesity, fake chums and indeed fake everything, congratulating Alex on whatever latest job she has been given, admiring her extreme talent, etc., reeling in the anti-woke gammon <sigh>
