Bread was shite. As was the Royle Family, Derry Girls and Mrs Brown’s Boys. All lowest common denominator tripe.
How on earth can Derry Girls have aged badly? It's only a couple of years old.

Certainly not having it as shite, I thought it was the funniest comedy of the past 20 years and certainly in my top 5 sitcoms. It had the perfect blend of humour and pathos.

Not forgetting the connection to NSC’s favourite actor …… Laurence Fox. Leaves a bitter taste in the mouth .
Such a shame. That was a great series and Fox was excellent in it. Our Kev is officially retired now. As is David Suchet. I'd love another slice of Lewis and Poirot.

I really hated Carla Lanes sit coms.

The Liver Birds, Butterflies, and, worst of all Bread, were all unfunny, overrated crap .

IMO, of course.
The Liver birds and Bread were indeed utter shite.

Butterflies however.....

Maybe its because I watched it when living abroad and the nostalgia factor, er, factored. Loved it.

Pleased to see others here loved the Joan Hickson crime dramas, I loved them. Slow paced and wonderful. Poirot too.

Love it. Lots of old ladies sitting in conservatories and gardens, sipping tea and side-eyeing each other knowingly. I’m trying to find out where to watch them right now actually. Might watch one with a pot of tea and several chocolate hobnobs on my afternoons free.

Aged well - Benny Hill ( legend )
(y)
This is what makes these lists so odd. I would have this and Love thy neighbour in their own aged terribly category.

Other aged badly would be
The Young ones - I watch this now and wonder what the heck I was in fit of laughter about
Absolutely Fabulous
Auf Weidersehen Pet
Red Dwarf - Loved this show watched it the other day and meh.

Aged well
Fawlty Towers
Python
Dads Army
To the Manor Born
Last Of the Summer Wine
The Good Life.

All this talk about Butterflies. For those of you who were actually at the match last night, instead of on the match-day thread - I shall rerun my comment about Weiffer having aged better than the rest of the cast.

Apologies to those for whom this is a repeat - much like Butterflies for the last decades.

Which series of Red Dwarf did you watch the other day?

While not without their charms, the first series or two aren't really what I have in mind when I think about it.

I ask as I watched it all up to about series 6 or so not that long ago.

Sadly, the actor who played the elder son is no longer with us - in fact, he died before Geoffrey Palmer did

Tiny and fearless Miss Marple gradually identifying the murderer, who’d likely want to take a shovel to her. The parochial police. Normally someone who calls her “that old busybody”.

I was about to write that I don't remember anything ever actually happening in Butterflies, but then I realised that as I was about 6 when I last saw any of it I probably wasn't best placed to judge.
That as may be but surely once you were a late teen along with siblings and had your own cars, the dance of the cars on the driveway must have hit the spot?

Mash 'was' special but having seen a couple lately I don't think it has aged well, maybe it's the annoying canned laughter!

Agree though about Ripping Yarns.
When first shown in the UK, the canned laughter was dropped.

I think all comedy shows should not have canned laughter, its really just a sign post to tell you that was a joke, regardless of how funny it was or wasn't

I think most of the classics are still very funny in an 'of their time' sort of way. My taste hasn't changed.

I disagree about Ab Fab- That's hilarious.

Little Britain- Yeah, that can get in the bin. Apart from the apologising MP, it wasn't funny then.
