The essential problem with It Ain't Half Hot Mum even back then was it was simply so unfunny. Bit harsh on Rising Damp.

Loved Ripping Yarns particularly the Curse of the Claw. Was not that keen on Tommy Cooper and today's random fact about him is that contrary to local lore he never lived in Eastbourne!

I was very young during Cooper’s last work, an ITV prog with an audience, not my cup of tea. And really hard to pull off for anyone.

It’s his career’s worth of jokes that imho are incredible. Anytime guaranteed to make me and family laugh.

Del Trotter. He was basically a racist, homophobic, sexist who disliked anyone with mental health issues in a nutshell tbh

There is some truth in that - he was a man of his time. But he was also someone who had a genuine friendship with Denzel and got Rodders to open up after carrying the pain of Cassandra's miscarriage. One of THE great scenes between two male characters in a sitcom. Also, plenty of other genuinely touching moments - if you didn't tear up when Rodders married Cassandra and was leaving the reception to glance back quickly at Del, you're not human. There is a lot of OFAH which has aged badly, but a whole lot more which has aged magnificently.

And John Sullivan, the writer, certainly wasn’t the least bit racist. Denzil is one of if not the only genuinely nice and honest character in the cast. Minorities are generally doctors and business owners and portrayed as successful and intelligent
