Decent result, I’ll take that. That budget was like going to an in-form team away from home and getting a hard fought draw. Happy with the point.
So basically what you’re saying is the chancellor can deliver on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?

Oh look, "working people" was what we knew it to be from the very beginning.

It's almost like the "confusion" was completely falsified
Indeed. It would appear that the majority of the government leaks over the past month or so have been complete and utter bollocks.

So why do it?

Seems a blanced budget so far.

Unless there are nasty surprises in the small print, I often see that.

RR has obviously listened to reactions to deliberately leaked ideas over the last month. To a 67m focus group.

Wonder if there'll be a Winter Fuel Payment pièce de résistance at the very end?

Exactly as I predicted;

Fairly soft impact with largely the right people being targeted but no heavy blows to anyone.

A reasonable first budget given the mess Tory’s left.

As for “working people”

No clearer. Do parents of kids at boarding school not work? Most work bloody hard. That’s why they can afford to send their kids to public school.

But I digress.

All as expected.
Any effect on your non dom status after the move to Tuscany? 😉

It'll be interesting to see the Independent analysis of it all. I'm guessing the OBR would issue a report.

The OBR analysis should be interesting - I see they have a live briefing on YouTube at 14:20.

When going over the changes to NI, Reeves did seem to acknowledge that the OBR will be detailing the negative consequences of those changes.

And may I say, brilliantly, boringly sane and targeting the right people. After recent insanity this is exactly what I want from government. Boring, sensible, slow and calm change. Happy with that.
Perfectly put.

She seems to have left pensions alone, apart from pension pots now liable for IHT.

Still pretty generous for those with money, £60k tax free and unlimited pot size
